Have you had your vitamin/mineral levels checked.... when I was like that I started feeling really weak randomly it was low folic acid.

Yes, I also had the same problem. After bloodtests it confirmed I needed folic acid and vitamin D supplements.

Are you able to breathe from the bottom of your lungs, not just the top? It's called diaphragm breathing, and it helps us get more oxygen in with each breath.

When people sit around a lot, it's very easy to shallow-breathe, which lowers the oxygen content of the blood, which means the muscles can't work as well.

Wishing you all the best.

I teach it in my singing for lung health group, You could see if there is one near you on this page: asthmaandlung.org.uk/groups...

The easiest way to learn which muscles you need to use, is to lie flat with a book on your stomach, and try to raise and lower the book just by breathing.

There are also plenty of videos on YouTube which will show you how to use your diaphragm to breathe.

I would start by making a note of when the fatigue happens, how long for and a general note of what you were doing in the day prior, plus keep a fairly detailed record of what and when you eat. It sounds like a lot of hassle, and at the beginning it probably is, especially if you are not used to logging such things, but after a while it becomes a habit, and you find shortcuts and abbreviations for things so you are not writing or typing a load of stuff. After a month or so, maybe sooner, you may start to see patterns. You can then start experimenting with adjustments to your lifestyle to see what helps or hinders.

It is counter intuitive but also, unless your doctor has advised otherwise, I would try to exercise. Clearly within your abilities, but even taking regular walks in the fresh air will help. I often find taking exercise helps even if I did not want to start because I felt tired and miserable. On those days I tell myself I will start my exercise but promise myself if I still feel tired after 10 or 15 minutes I will stop. Usually I have got into my exercise session happily enough by then. Obviously if you are actually ill you rest. But regular movement is massively helpful and really can combat fatigue.

This sounds like good advice. If you are able to get out a short walk is also a good idea. It may only be a few yards to begin with because you don't want to push yourself, but once you get into the routine you might find your energy level improving.

I have the same problem, not helped that all 3 of us in this family have gone down with an energy sapping bug. (Guess who's the least ill, at least the one who gets up to make the drinks.) AsthmaandLung advises exercise as best you can, which is hard when you don't feel like it. If I find a magic solution, I'll let you know. Hope you're soon feeling better. xxx

Hi Olivia.Fatigue and night sweats are a classic sign of NTM lung disease in people with an underlying lung condition.

It's a treatable condition so not to be worried about.

Might be worth getting a sample handed in.

A friend of mine recommended a tonic called Zell Oxygen.....it certainly helped me! I have to warn you it doesn't taste nice at all and it's best if you put it into a glass of juice.

Depends what is causing your fatigue.

One reason could be SAD - (SAD is more common in people who live farther north, where there are fewer daylight hours in the winter. Some people may need more light than others, which can make them more likely to experience SAD. )

I get SAD every winter, causes lack of light, caused by winter shortened days. Also lack of sun in Winter can Cause "Vitamin D deficiency " and this can cause you to be grotty.

(It could be something else) but a simple blood test is all it takes tofind out. - This is commong and easy treated by prescribed VD Supliments.
