Flying with oxygen

Hello, I'm just wondering if anyone can help. Our son uses portable oxygen cylinders due a complex seizure condition. We have decided after 13 years to try and go to Spain but our oxygen provider has told us we cannot take our cylinders out of the country as they're not insured. I have rang round multiple companies but no one will hire me one so wondered if anyone here could help. He currently has a portable cylinder and we run it as 10lpm during a seizure and it lasts 30 months. Jet 2 have said it is fine for the flight so I just need to find a similar cylinder to take. Thanks

Hello,

Sorry to know that your son requires 02.

Flying with 02 is possible but only if the 02 prescription is suitable for a POC.

POCs will only only supply a certain amount of 02. Are you sure it will meet your son’s needs ?

Many of us needing bottles or cylinders of 02 are no longer able to fly.

If you use Facebook there is a great helpful group called At Home with Oxygen UK. A request to join is required. They are so helpful.

I hope you manage to sort things out,

Go well

Thank you. Unfortunately a poc won't run at the flow he needs as during a seizure we have to run it at 10lpm.

Yes my dear, I used to travel widely with the PPOC I had though now with continuous flow it is impossible for me, even if I drove to S Spain as I used to. I really hope you find a way but it is really tricky to sort out.

Go well.

I have been checking this and it does seem that some airlines can provide oxygen while on board the plane. Best to check with the airline. Can the oxygen company that supply you here not give info on a supplier in Spain who could provide it there.

All the airlines I spoke to didn't supply the oxygen anymore. Was there any you knew that did? Thanks

I looked into BA but I just looked and it seems they only provide for long haul flights . britishairways.com/content/.... Give them a call to check, the number is on this link

Hi, Jumping in here. I have looked at arranging for continuous flow liquid oxygen in Spain. It is almost impossible to arrange and prohibitively expensive. Even if I drove down to Southern Spain as I used to do it really isn't possible.

Not what you're looking for?
