My Wife, mother in law and sister in law are visiting friends in the Coral Bay Area of Cyprus from 23rd Oct for 5 days. My mother in law has COPD and uses prescribed oxygen from a cylinder as and when required... usually after minor exercise. She also has a wheel chair for longer distances. Think she is currently on a flow setting of 4, but as I said iust when she has exercised or exerted herself... so not all the time. only when and as she needs
As she isn't allowed to bring UK NHS cylinders with her, we are looking at alternatives for her in Cyprus. Either small bottles of oxygen that she can carry around with her or whether a portable oxygen concentrator would be more suitable. We would be looking to rent though not buy. We have tried contacting a company recommended by her current oxygen supplier....but they wanted over 600 euros!
Any help, advice, contacts would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately with those costs and the hike in insurance due to oxygen use it has made holidays abroad out of our reach. I wish you luck in finding an oxygen source.
Getting oxygen outside of the UK is very expensive now - prohibitively so in most cases.
Assume your MIL will be flying out to Cyprus so she will need a hypoxic challenge test and a fit to fly certificate from her doctor plus authorisation from the airline before she can board a plane. I assume you have all that in hand as it isn’t possible to fly with oxygen cylinders.
Hi, she's got her FTF cert and has assisted travel at both airports (wheelchair and lifts to and from the plane) and as such won't need oxygen on the plane. The need to exert herself will be minimal as they are taking a wheelchair with her, car hired etc.
As a resident of Cyprus using oxygen 24/7 I gave up trying to get oxygen cylinders but Paphos district might be better. I use an oxygen concentrator in the house and a portable one for out and about. I bought my reconditioned one from PureO2 in the Uk. An expense I know but you’ll always have it for future holidays! Just make sure it’s airline approved. Some are heavier than others but you’ll need to think about battery life. I hope she enjoys her stay.
Hi, thanks so much for the reply. Hiring a portable unit fro Pure02 is coming in around £600 at the moment...which is more than we envisaged. We've contacted her friends in Pafos, most of whom have be resident for at least 20 + years, and they are on the case so hopefully we'll get some good news from them. Thanks again.
Pure O2 who have been mentioned have a helpline you can call, and you could try the Oxygen Store. We are not affiliated with them, but they do seem helpful according to some of our callers.
