hi, has anyone used one of those light weight portable oxygen concentrators as am thinking of getting one but the prices seen sky high we were looking at the "air sept " one that seems very light to carry as dragging around the small ambo cylinders is beyond me, any advise would be very helpful.

portable oxygen concentrators
I thought the air sept looked and sounded great -small and lightweight. Sadly my prescription Lpm was much too high when I was assessed so I have had to settle for cylinders.
The air sept is very expensive so you need to factor in your current Lpm and consider whether it is futureproof.
I have the Airsep Freestyle as I only use 2 or 3 lpm. Yes, they are expensive but it works out cheaper than arranging oxygen supplies when abroad on holiday as I usually go twice per year. It works well for me. If the price is beyond your means there are often used ones for sale but be careful to ensure any you buy has a good battery as they are very expensive to replace (£500 the last I heard).
Battery £350 Smile rehab Toci go liquid oxygen further for less cost.
It was Smile that quoted me £500, and that was last year. Thanks for the suggestion about LOX but I can't fill the $%#$ cylinders! And I need the portable for holidays abroad.
some places will not let you use liquid oxygen ask first
Hi
Firstly you must make sure that Portable units are suitable. For you requirements.
If you can visit or arrange a home visit so you try the chosen unit.
You may even consider highing with a few to purchase .
I am lucky I live close to a supplier, and I tried two before i settled on a Airsep Focus,
Only suitable if you are on 2lpm.
I know this may sound convaluted but I was considering getting a portable concentrator and was looking at the Sequoia Eclipse. It turns out that I was on an American web site. When I found same on UK web site I was astounded by the price difference. We are getting royally ripped off here. I could have flown to America had a 2 week holiday there and bought the machine and still would have had change compared to what I would have paid here.
It may be worth checking out. You don't pay import duties or VAT on medical equipment for personal use.
NB I am of course assuming you are in UK not America lol
Here is comparison

Hiya,
FOR SALE: I have for sale an AirSep Focus, including 4 good batteries, several sealed un-used cannulas, mains & car charger etc, all fully working & in excellent condition. At only 0.8kg, it's by far the lightest oxygen concentrator available. It is approved by airlines.
It originally cost about £2200 with extra batteries etc., but I'm happy to take £850 for it. I bought it to use on a plane/overseas holiday .....
See: intermedicaldirect.co.uk/pr...
Can you tell me a little bit more about this please.
Not a lot to say really ..... the unit, 4 x batteries, mains & car chargers, etc are in 'as-new' working order & cosmetically perfect condition. There are about 6 new cannulas, still sealed in their bags. The concentrator unit has a little case with belt-clip & strap. The whole lot comes in a proper AirSep accessory bag.

What more can I say ...........
You need to make sure this is suitable for your needs. The price is good but it only delivers pulsed (on demand) oxygen, not continuous flow and has a maximum output of 2/lts minute. This is quite low as most people on ambulatory oxygen need upwards of 4lpm. You may also need to upgrade it at a later date as your prescription changes.
