Finally this flu has now subsided thankfully, I've had all my antibiotics and 2 weeks of steroids but im left so breathless from doing very little and I'm scared as I am due back at work on Tuesday, and don't know how I am going to cope, I'm meant to be looking after other people and taking them out, doing their shopping and even some cleaning for them. It's going to be such a struggle. I've managed to get an appointment with the respiratory nurse in the morning but unless she's got a magic wand I don't know what I'm going to do. 🙈

You have to let yourself heal chook. I have copd and had 3 viruses, the last being the worst, but you can't force yourself to do something if you're not ready as you could make yourself worse. I know you probably feel guilty because of what you do but the people you look after would probably tell you the same. I know time is money too but your body has to heal. Good luck chook 😉

You have to build yourself up gradually one day at a time. Not a good idea to go back to work on Tuesday. I last had flu in 1999 into 2000 and was off work for three weeks. I had no underlying health problems back then but it knocked me for six. Fortunately Pete never caught it.

Feel better soon. Xxx.

Melly and Sassy are quite right. You cannot go back to work feeling so weak. I would hate to have one of my lovely carers come out while she was feeling ill. Please don't feel you're letting people down. Flu really knocks one out - you have to take time to get your strength back. xxx

Give yourself some more time. If you go back too soon youll under up going off again. Please allow yourself to get back to 'normal'. Sadly no quick fixes after fle. Lots of rest & a good diet. Good luck!

Sounds like you need some tlc yourself rather than looking after others Jake. If you rush back to working you will only make yourself worse and ultimately take longer to get better. Be kind to yourself and take further time to recover. xx

Thank you all for your replies, as usual you are all correct in what you have said. I have just been to see the respiratory nurse at the surgery. She is tasking the doctor to send me for a chest xray and to have some blood tests. I have been referred for pulmonary rehabilitation. And my sick note has been extended for another 2 weeks. Thank you all so much, yes I need to get myself better and fit before I can look after others. What would I do without all your reassurance and wisdom. ❤️ Hope you all have a lovely day. 🤗

Hi Jane,

I’m glad you’re feeling that you’re over the flu virus, but everyone is right, it’s just time now & unfortunately we can’t rush the healing process with copd can we?

I’m glad you’re taking more time off. It’s time to be kind to yourself now.

Hope you pick up soon

Love Lynne xxx

Thanks Jane. I’m a bit of a background reader!

I’d managed to avoid the viruses until now. I’m 3 days into whatever this is & just juggling breathing, coughing and sleep lol! There’s not a lot of the latter but hey ho, it’ll pass and it gives me the opportunity to catch up on box sets and films!

Let’s both breath easy 🥰 xx

Aww Lynne hope you recover fast, there's no avoiding it I thought I was careful but it got me. You keep warm try and sleep lots, I took night nurse liquid not sure if that's something you can take but it really helps with the sleeping. Get well soon hun ❤️ xx

Hope you get well soon, your lucky if your employer supports you. When I left a message for my manager yesterday telling him I had another sick note he didn't reply even though I could see he read the message. I asked him to call me but he didn't.
