Mild COPD and morning cough
from what I was told at pulmonary rehab if mucus is green it's usually an infection.
If I cough up mucus it is generally clear or a very pale whitish yellow if I am not unwell. A more vivid yellow or green or grey would normally indicate infection. Seek medical advice if you are not sure. If your doctor does video consultations or accepts information by email the easiest thing to do would be to spit the mucus onto a white surface (such as a plate) and photograph it so the doctor can take a look.
I believe clear mucus is usually non-infectious but often occurs due to environmental irritants like dust near the bed or strong aromas that can bother the nostrils. Milk tends to increase mucus production, so I generally avoid dairy like milk and cheese and opt for soya milk instead. That said, I always eat Brazil nuts and organic eggs because they’re great for boosting the immune system. Green mucus, especially if it’s sticky, often signals an infection. Hope this helps!

We are all different with our symptoms.. xx
With chronic lung disease the colour doesn’t signify much. Mine is green, brown, red, pale but often green and not an infection. When I get a cold / sore throat and get increase in green a few days later then you have an infection.
