Hi. ILD is an umbrella term which covers a group of respiratory diseases. With him saying fibrosis, he would probably be referring to pulmonary fibrosis or idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (the latter not having a known cause). I have pulmonary fibrosis due to Lupus/scleroderma. While both can't be cured there are treatments for both which your respiratory doctor will discuss with you in detail. Like Petrina says, it's a good idea taking someone along with you for support and maybe to take notes. If you're anything like me you will listen to all the information given then 2 minutes out of the door you forget stuff. One thing I would strongly advise is that you don't try to Google for information, not only is some of it out of date but it's extremely overwhelming and a lot of the time it's worse case scenario. Your appointment date isn't far away and you will get accurate information there. Take care 🌹
Hi first thing don't panic it's not always as bad as it seems I am suffering with ILD which after years of difficulties with breathing I was diagnosed in Feb 2020 which wasn't the ideal time as COVID lockdown was 23 rd March 2020 my birthday so won't forget that day lol.as previously stated ILd covers a multitude of respiratory disease it is sometimes difficult for them to narrow it down to one .I worked in the building trade all my life from 15 yes of age till retirement. My diagnosis is Non specific Interstitial lung pneumonitis hypersensitivity spectrum disease a right combination just to say my lungs are heavily scarred it is incurable and will become worse overtime . The good news is even though I tire easily and have to stop to intake more air I am not yet on any medication or oxygen and in normal circumstances I am just like any one else .Do not Google as they will have you searching for a solicitor to do your will . What you need to be asking is what is the full diagnosis ,do they know the cause ( this they might not ) what is their prognosis, will there be any treatment necessary now or in the future and what will there follow up plan be . As I say it's not all doom and gloom be positive write down your questions and take your time in your consultation they are like gold dust good luck take care ...
Thank you very much for your helpful feedback back.I have so many other health issues but as my friends say iam always cheerful and positive but I like to know all the facts. I have never smoked and drink little so I don’t know why I have this maybe just bad luck
I'd ask what may have caused it; can it be treated; is there anything u can, cant or should do moving forward.id take bullet pt list with u so u get the answers u want.x
