Such a lovely puss is Smudge. We can't help that our cognition declines with the rest of our body. Just time and gravity. What I have understood about you Don is you are still very sharp :)🗡️Lovely to read your posts. Keep warm you two xxx❤️😘
I’m lucky in that respect, but my body is letting me down. I no longer have any appetite and the helpers sent to help me keep out of hospital just irritate me, not their fault.
Good to stay out of hospital if you can, though. My mum is 91 and has been in hospital for 6 weeks after a heart attack then a stroke. She’s resilient-like you Donald , but I can see all the minor irritations get to her.
I think this is the first photo I’ve seen of Smudge - she is stunning 😍 Obviously her appetite isn’t on the decline ! Don’t worry about yours , I truly believe worrying is the absolute worst thing for our health , eat when and what you want in the amount you can manage , something is better than nothing and will keep you going 😊 xx
Certainly is - since my cancer diagnosis I’ve noticed that on the very rare occasions I let it get to me I experience all sorts of minor aches n pains but I actively push bad thoughts out of my mind and for the most part I’m really positive and enjoying life and then I feel well with no symptoms whatsoever ! I truly believe that the brain is a very powerful tool that affects our wellbeing ie worry , fear and depressing thoughts exacerbate disease and positivity aids recovery So stay positive everyone - not always easy but can always be done 😊 xx
That must have been a right shock getting told you have cancer!
One reason I hate going to check ups is that they might tell me things I don't want to hear like telling me it's bad news I have cancer and they can't do anything for me.
Years ago an old colleague had cancer and she was only 40 and thankfully it was caught early and she made a full recovery.
It was a shock especially as it’s inoperable😳 but I’m on one of these relatively new targeted therapies, which is great - very little in the way of side affects and tablets are sent through the post 😃 The results have been brilliant too 50% reduction in everything in 6 months but the down side is no one can say how long the treatment will continue to work -I choose to forget about that bit and carry on regardless 😂 It must be harder for younger people ,I know ,but cancer isn’t the terrifying thing it used to be I refused tests at first because I was afraid of the aggressive treatments my mum and sister had 40 and 25 years ago but things have come a long way since then 😊 I hope you’re keeping well x
Smudge looks very content Don and am sure she is well pleased with her slave. Sounds like you have a good relationship with her. Try to eat little and often and things like banana milk shakes with Jersey milk all help x
She loves you Don. You go well together. We had a proper wild cat that was rescued. He would attack your hands if they were at the side of the chair but in his senior years he became a proper house cat. Xx
Our Socks has an inbuilt alarm clock but she doesn't move from her comfy place until she hears the food go down! Especially the rustle of the treat bag!
Smudge is a beauty Don and her name fits her to a T! Hope your appetite picks up. Mine is down right now - went on a cruise - got the Covid! If we take another cruise, I'll buy us some hazmat suits. Might make dining and bathrooms a bit tricky though!😂
So sorry you are poorly. Smudge lived across the road for 7 or 8 years as an outside cat and when they moved came to live with me. This was shortly after my cat Puss died. I’m really life long dogman but Puss had converted me. 😊
Thanks for sharing your story and photo of smudge . I have Calico who seems very like your one. A little tubby, very lazy, can't stand her feet being touched but oh I love her and her little ways.
