can anyone help me find how to get rid of runny nose. I have had several prescriptions and otc as well. Nothing seems to work. It stops me from breathing through my nose which is hard as I am always breathless even with oxygen. It does get better later in the day. I am just finding it so depressing I go through so many boxes of tissues. Please if anyone has an answer please tell me. I have to blow my does every couple of minutes. Thank you in advance

Have you tried Bronchostop or buttercup syrup? That's my go-to when my nose won't stop running.

Let’s hope so gilder. It would be such a relief I have noticed that when I’m around people and therefore talking my nose stops running !

I’m in the same boat but I’ve found relief using saline nasal spray. I’m in the US so get it from Costco. It seems to be helping. I’m not good at reading all the instructions but it does say you should use it when you’re going to be standing ie not lying down. Originally I was using it at bed time. I looked it up and it’s 6.79 at Boots. Good luck

When I was in my teens and through to the age of 45, I had a terrible blocked up nose, and regularly, sinusitis. I then had surgery on my nasal cavities, when a polyp was removed/, and little bones in the top of the airways were trimmed (as near as I can remember; Senipie Escopens?). This helped a lot with the stuffed up nose. As to a runny nose, could it be hay fever. I am affected by tree pollen from February, and I don't what through spring and summer, and then fungal spores from end of August into October. So I take an antihystamine through those months. I've just stopped. Also, any mould in your home? Can be anywhere where water is leaking. So. roof, kitchen and bathroom. The last two places, mould can hide out of sight, under or behind.

Thank you lutontown. It’s definitely not hay fever as I have it all through out the year. I have two small dogs. They are shih tzu and do not shed hair so I’m hoping they are not the cause as I can never give them up

There is a thing called perennial rhinitis. As it suggests, it can go on year round. Look it up. Dust mites, mould spores.

Hi Osha, I used to have that and I was finally referred to a consultant. It turned out that I had a deviated septum ( and no, I've never snorted anything!). He put me on a thing called Avamys which I have to squirt up my nose once a day. It seems to work as my nose is a bit drippy first thing but after I've used it, I'm fine. I don't know if your GP can prescribe it or you need a referral but I'd push to get it resolved if I were you.

Good luck xx

I've just Googled it and it's almost £20 to buy so it'll be cheaper if you can get it on prescription. I'm lucky to be old enough that I get mine for free now otherwise I might not be using it anymore!

Thank you Germantara I will try out the various suggestions. Something somewhere must work. I find it so frustrating. Also since the doc has put me on azithromycyn I find it harder to do clearance so all in all I feel I’ve taken a step back in helping with breathlessness!!

I had this for about 12 yrs. my tongue would split due to sleeping with mouth open. Very dry mouth. Tried every otc meds. Finally went to see ent. I had nasal polyps. Had them removed. After years I could breath again and no runny nose. Best thing I ever did. Good luck, hope you can this sorted.

Thank you jollyhockeysticks. Your name alone is very cheering. Did you need a full anesthetic (my phone informs me I spelt that wrong)
