I had this done a couple of days ago and the doctor didn't say anything about it other than he made an appointment for me this coming Friday for a lung function test. The last one I had done was 9 years ago and was diagnosed with copd and asthma, and the fev1 was73%
I know my condition has worsen a lot just lately mainly due to not being able to exercise for the past year and it's very worrying.
Can anyone help with what this chest xray says?
Thank you.

Thank you Difficul, I think you are right. It makes sense with the two courses of antibiotics I was given, I just Google it and keeping my fingers crossed and will get better soon ๐
It does look like a foreigner's writing of pneumonia. I'm glad s/he's referring you for LFT. Old pneumonia would also leave scarring รฌ believe. Try to get up all and any mucus so its not festering in your lungs for bacteria to multiply. Good luck
Yes it's in a Thailand hospital, doctors are Thai.I've been doing some research on this and it looks like bacterial pneumonia, hopefully the antibiotics will help sort it out very soon.
Thank you for your reply peege, I hope your keeping well.
I've had it about 5 times, really important to go back to doc if by 2 days before antibiotics run out. There were times I had to take abs for 6 weeks to clear a pneumonia. Flipping nightmare. I always take loads of vitamins to rebuild immune system, it's severely challenged by both the infection AND antibiotics. Vitamin C is really good at fighting infection.
PS not had it since I had the pneumonia vaccination. Good luck and take care. P
Thanks for the reply again peege, I have plenty of antibiotics and I will see the doctors again on Friday and have the full lung function test that I know will be very low after nearly 10 years from diagnosis. Am going to ask them if it's possible for another 10 years ๐
Hope you feel better soon. However in UK you would not do a lung function test until at least 6 weeks after you have completed all medication and are better. Your peak flow may be low due to pneumonia or could be really good due to steroids taken. So not sure why they doing it on Friday because chances are high you will have a false reading.
I agree with you on that. When I had my first lung function test about 10 years ago it was 54%, I was ill at the time with flu. I was very shocked as it didn't seem right, a couple of months later I had another one done and it was 73%. Then I had another one with it being a full lung function test at a different hospital and it was 73% again.
I haven't had any since then.
I will most certainly have more then the one on Friday.
All the doctors I've seen in the past month have said my lung are clear but am in quite a lot of pain in my chest when breathing and out of breath very quickly when trying to walk.
I will know by Friday if the antibiotics are doing anything to help.
The hospital seems to be taking everything seriously and I will find out very soon what's going on with my health problems.
It has R10 in front of it, I've been reading up everything there is on the internet about it. I just have to wait and see if the antibiotics will have a positive effect ๐ค
Hi! Hope you're soon feeling better. Just a reminder to take yogurt as antibiotics will also destroy the "good" bacteria which your body needs. Yogurt will replenish that. Take good care.
Thanks for the reminder, I do eat quite a bit of plain yogurt with fresh fruit but I seem to have forgotten about it the last few weeks. I will have papaya with yogurt later in the day and will make a point of putting back in my daily diet.
Look for a good probiotic yoghurt to help with your gut after antibiotics along with a multi vit. I think you need all the help you can get after pneumonia, plenty of tlc and rest up, hope you get well soon x
Thank you for your reply, I tried looking up what the R 1o stood for and tried R10, R 1o and R/0 but it got very confusing. Ho well it was only a matter of time before my lungs worsen โน๏ธ
Just a few more days until my appointment and it will be the the first thing I will ask the doctors what it means. I've been going round and round on Google for days โน๏ธ๐
Yes it's pneumonia, and I think R 10 means unspecified organism. Don't know what to make of it. I have an appointment on Friday for a full lung function test, hopefully I will find out what is going on with my health issues.
Pneumonia shows up on x rays for weeks after you think youโre over it. Your lung function tests will show a better picture of whatโs going on in your lungs. I hope your appointment goes well.
The R 10 pneumonia, was the clinical diagnosis made by my doctor from the xray they just took. The doctor gave this paper to the nurse who then gave to my wife to take to the xray for their records. I took a photo of it before she gave it to them.
The doctor asked me to get my previous xrays I had done in order hospitals in the past so he could compare them.
I have already arranged for them to be emailed to me within the next few days.
