We missed that one somehow. We stopped to break some china at the cricket club stand as our son and family are involved with them ( our son is one of their sponsors). We also stopped at the WI refreshment tent - well, there was cake, so it was compulsory! 🤣We stopped at the Cat Protection stall and bought a couple of things on Socks's behalf, but by then I'd had enough walking and wanted to get back to our seats.
Sorry we missed you. We'll be there again next year, I expect so let me know where you are and I'll look out for you.

Hi Moy, I missed the earlier post but have just read through it. Well done for posting all of that - it is such a merry-go-round of news, and you've laid it all out for us to share. I can well understand all the kindly replies together giving you a massive bear hug! So on top of the hug i send my own best wishes to you.I hope to post again soon with hospital related stories. Right now I've picked up an eye infection and my left hearing aid has conked out. I'm on eye drops as from yesterday and seeing an optician this afternoon who can give closer examination. I have booked an appointment with ENT but that's the last Friday in Sept so I'm not a happy bunny but can get by on my right hearing aid! I've just spent 4 days with my family in Northampton and I'm back to London this lunchtime.

Oh, no! An eye infection and a useless hearing aid - got a great combination! I hope you are able to get by until your appointment. It seems a long time to have to wait, but I guess that's the way it is at the moment. I hope you're managing with one aid.
For the first time ever, I went out without my hearing aids on Sunday. I hadn't realised just how much I rely on them now. It was surprising how many bits of conversation I misunderstood or needed to have repeated. It was also quite tiring.
I hope your eye clears up quickly and is nothing more than a simple infection.
They must miss you at the hospital in your volunteer role. I love reading your accounts of the people you meet there. Pre-covid, when I was in hospital for a few days, it was lovely to have the book lady arrive with a cheery word. I didn't choose a book as I knew I wouldn't be there long enough to read it, but her cheerful demeanour and bright smile did a lot to lift my spirits. Also, the chaplain came to visit. I am not a religious person, but it was still nice to have someone at my bedside for a few minutes that I could share a few words with, other than where it hurt!

Thanks Moy- good news! Yesterday I went to see the optician at my local Marks and Spenser. I had a thorough examination of both eyes, and full tests of my vision. Yes there is irritation in the right eye and I am to continue with the eye-drops I had been given the day before. But she also prescribed drops for dry eyes AND the use of Blephasol on gauze to wipe the eye-lids. Plus the use of a cloth and warm water over the eyelids. And so I have a new timetable of procedures during waking hours! Well, I'm certainly grateful to the lady who saw me, Shaganna, and her team was excellent. I'm due back to see her in two weeks.
And I found a spare hearing aid mould and hearing aid which I can use in my left ear till I have my ENT appointment end of September. (I was given the option of having two sets of moulds a year ago and I only needed to pay £35 for the second set of mould - a more flexible material. Money well spent for emergencies!
I visit UCLH in London every Monday morning as a volunteer, but not Bank Holidays when the Volunteer Offices are closed. However I have offered to go in this Friday morning. I do have a post to write on HU about a 95 year-old patient of Greek parents who is the most handsome 95 year old man I could ever wish to see. HIs wife is constantly at his bedside and though he cannot speak, he can hear, and he can listen to tunes I play on my Bluetooth speaker. Two weeks ago I said I would take him to Paris! He smiled. I then played the French song "Sous Le Ciel De Paris" (Under French Skies) played on the accordion and sung by Jacques Gautier. He smiled even more broadly and you can see his eyes light up.
All around the bedside are large photos of him and his wife. All dressed in immaculate fashion. They had just come back from a holiday in New York, travelling back on the Queen Mary, and living in complete luxury. But back in England he had "collapsed" and the doctors are still figuring out how to put him back on track. Anyway I shall write a post about my recent visits to UCLH. I do pray he will recover but it wasn't looking so good last time I was there.
The peaple on forum are brilliant and are very patient fantastic peaple so I know how grateful yourself and also speaking on my behalf
There are alot of good people on this forum and think we are lucky to share our problems and get good advise from each other, its like an extended family and so glad there were many hugs sent to you x
