my pulmonologist has diagnosed me with the diaphragm problems. They say that it is moving up and causing part of my shortness of breath. Has anyone had this experience and what did you do? Are there exercises you can do thanks.

diaphragm
the diaphragm is the main breathing muscle but most people actually only shallow breath just using the upper chest muscles. Learn and practice diaphragm breathing techniques, there are plenty on the internet or get a good pulmonary physio to teach you. Hopefully this will help, has the pulmonologist said why the diaphragm is moving up
Start with a good respiratory physio appointment and get them to explain the sorts of exercises and activities you can do to improve your breathing. Even if you have to pay for the appointment, it should be money well spent.
Did the pulmonologist give you any idea why your diaphragm was moving up
Have you checked your breathing by putting one hand on your upper chest , one on your lower , breathe gently , gently …..not big breaths ….gentle nose breaths … the lower hand should move out more than your upper hand .
Belly out on in breath, belly in on out breath. Relaxed shoulders and belly .
You tube , Buteyko practitioner Neil Tranter says Belly like Jelly .
But I would check back with your health professional for advice on how and why your diaphragm is working as it is.

Yes, l have a diaphram issue that is affecting my breathing, it is caused by a lipoma where a large mass of fatty tissue is causing a big problem in breathing, l have to hold the mass so that l can breath. l have a hospital surgical appointment later this week. In the meantime l am waiting for my local hospital to also send my GP the Chest Xray results so that l can be put forward for Lung Volume Reduction operation, but as usual they are dragging their feet in sending the results.
keep me posted. Good luck with your surgery.
Hi, I know your problem isn't caused by this but as my health has deteriorated I "shallow breathe" which of course makes my breathing control rubbish!. Used to use my diaphragm but now use my shoulders🙄. Often don't realise until I walk past a mirror in my flat. As others have said a good resp. physio can help you with breathing correctly. Hope you manage to get some help soon 🤞😊xxx
