I'm John and for several years have posted in HealthUnlocked about atrial fibrillation and stroke. In 2014 I had pulmonary toxicity (cryptogenic organising pnuemonia) secondary to dronedarone and amiodarone. It took three hospital admissions before it was correctly diagnosed. I had read the American medical papers and knew it was not the diagnosed community aquired pnuemonia. My GP had measured my blood oxygen (SpO2) at 76% before the third admission. The third admission was timly, as in the early hours I had to robustly argue against being sedated in ICU and put on mechanical respiration. It took 25 litres/minute of oxygen and a steriod injection to stabilise me. The medical team did a great job and despite a depressing prognosis, I'm still here and ambulant. Whether that, atrial fibrillation and inverted yoga poses contributed to a stroke in 2016, I don't know. The consequences were scarring of the lungs that I now know is pulmonary fibrosis and as of yet, does not have a treatment path.
I participate as a stroke lived-experience person in various university studies, and maybe there are opportunities through this forum. I'll sit back for the time being and absorb your knowledge.
