Well I did this on an 8x8 canvas as I was posting to, but 8x8 does not work for this type of picture. canvas to small.
I preffer a larger canvas as more options - So Hobbit Garden Somewhere. I have to be at eye unit at 8-15 in morning with my eye, I have drops in but I managed.

I love it Ern. It would be lovely to walk up the track, past the blossom trees.its a nice colourful reminder that it is spring + warmer temperatures are coming.Gd luck tomorrow Ern xxx
Hi, Ern. You should just be leaving the eye unit as I type this. Hope that went well. And thanks for letting us see another of your bright cheery paintings - lovely.
Thank you Ergendl - Your timing was good. they would not give me eye injection as I told them I had a sticky eye, they said could be danderous to proceed and gave me AB ointment. would rather have had the jab, I have to go back just after 7 day.
Hope everything goes well next week. I have to go back tomorrow for more tests at the opticians. Last Monday they told me I have cataracts in both eyes. Brian
Yes well I was told 55 years ago as a young boy I had a very small cataract and only had an eye test a year ago because I have a dry eye condition and told I needed yearly checks. Last year nothing and now both eyes need doing. Brian
That's bad luck Brian, so it was found because of another eye condition. Both Anne and I have cataracts and have for 8 years. I know a few that has had it done Brian and they are glad they had, You dry eye condition is not Dry Macular Vision, is it?
No I was told a year ago at another opticians that I had Corneal Dystrophy and to use drops 4 times a day. Because I have moved recently I went to the same opticians but another branch closer to me this time and they said I have cataracts that need doing. They said I was borderline for being safe to drive buy luckily my partner drives as well. Brian
My optition in village is poor towards the town. lucky I have the clinic to go to/ Ny next doot neighbour but on is 86 and she had hers done. and was pleased how it was done. As we get older we get thrials, my wife does not drive/ I think I got a speeding tocket, I noyiced to late the cheverons and was doing 34 - The glare from the sun waas horrendud,
Than you Chris - I have been using 8x8" of late with two paintings, it did not work with this, looked scrunched up, so I did an A4 - I will at some stage do an A3, I will have to plan what goes in, instread of my instinct. I wisj it was to let also.
I like it Ern, but a lot of things puzzle me. I have to say you make very bold decisions. 😊 At least you are controversial IMO, but you give rein to your imagination! You always take us somewhere!
Thank you Greenthorn. I was going to do a pair. on 8x8"- It was so bad, because the bulding was in my face. So used a larger canvas and I had no idea at first, I painted with instinct. You can only pre plan so far, things have a habit of evolving.
When I'm playing piano, interesting an old song, I never plan or think about the notes i'm gonna play, that's fatal ... thinking clogs the creative prices. I let my right hand scamper about, I don't tell it where to go. Somewhere in my head, in a micro-second, any given note will a) tell me or signal a linear movement or b) the physicality of four fingers and a thumb behave like a gymnast doing floor exercises, flips, stretches, runs, somersaults and handstands. And don't ask me if I've been drinking. 🤣
I don't think you have been drinking at all Greenthorn. I notice you typed "Interesting" old song. My take in what you are saying is you just play, because you can, you have reached a standard where planning would stop you being creative and interpeting a song almost automatically ' your way' Frank Sinatra has similer thoughts. I am unsure if I read your post correct, it did sound to me thinking would stifle you, so you just let your fingers do the thinking.
I learned to play the piano when I was 15 - I got run over by a coal waggon and my left leg and foot broke in 5 places. So yes I could play with music, or without with easy tunes like Wooden Heart ect,
My fullness as a piano player was when I learned to play and old song "Silver Threads Amonst The Gold" and with a grace note or two included, I was proud of that, but very little musical ability despite being taught,
Thanks for that reply Ern. When I typed "when I'm playing piano, "interesting" an old song" I meant to type IMPROVISING an old song! Yes thinking definitely stifles me and I do let the fingers do the thinking. (We musicians talk about muscle memory, Any pianist can develop their own manner of movement of fingers - hopefully a style emerges. Of course, my ears influence what I might do next - rhythm has a lot to do with it - after all a piano is a percussive instrument, I hit or press the keys and the hammers hit the strings. I seem to remember "Silver threads among the gold" from the William Smallwood teaching book my teacher used. I hated reading music - took all the enjoyment away. I play from chord charts now. It kind of frees me up to develop new melodic lines. Chord charts are my "Sat Nav". But well done for playing grace notes. A bit flash for a 15 year old ha ha.
In my day it was Every Good Boy Deserves Favour. Not that I received any favours. Not from my elderly, smelly, crabby piano teacher who would hit my fingers with a knitting needle if I made a mistake!
Thank you Nula 2 - It's a mobile clinic I wet to, they are in B@Q grounds - I have a suspected infected eye, so could not have the treatment. They gave me AB and will send for me in a week. Nula I am sure I gor a speeding ticket, I noticed I was doing 33 in a 30 limit going home, I may just have noticed in time. xxxx
Oh Ern so sorry you're on yet more AB's.🤞Finger crossed you don't get a speeding ticket, be pretty mean if you were only doing 33, not like you were doing 50! Take care and rest up.❤️❤️xxxx
Thank you Dottie 11 - I did not get my injection. I told them my eye was a bit sticky, I needed the injection but could not resk any infection entering me eye, they gave me AB and they will send for me next week.. xx
Best to be on the safe side but frustrating. Ive just come home with antibiotics as infection and have had my 5 year pneumonia jab cancelled until better. Take care. xx
Hello Ern. Firstly, all the very best for tomorrow. Secondly, your artwork is gorgeous. I can almost hear Bilbo pottering about in the back garden! Superb as always and really cheers up my day.
Thank you Jan - I don't like the injections but know they are needed - I could not have it this time becuase on an infected eye, I got eye AB and they are sending for me again in about 7 days . Lote of hugs to you. xxx
you are really enjoying painting aren’t you. I like drawing and painting but never seem to do it any more. I keep telling myself I will. Keep it up. I love seeing your paintings.
Thank you Mavary - Yes I do enjoy, before Acrylic I painted watercolour - You might find it easier to draw - Harder to get back into painting. I will keep painting as long as possible.
You keep going. I love to see your painting. My eyes aren’t too special either. I’ve got macular disease. I’m very lucky so far that it’s going at a slow pace.
I'm sorry you couldn't have your injection but fingers crossed that all goes well when you return. This is such a cheerful painting, reminds me somewhat of Henri Rousseau, the same vitality and bold colours, Helen xx
Thank you, yes I used to hate them, now I realsise how important they are. Yes Henri Rousseau is vibrant. ;Tiger in a Tropical Storm; comes straight to mind.
I see from your replies to people here that you weren't able to have the injection. That's too bad especially after your early start. Hopefully the infection clears up and you can get the injection soon.
Thank's HH. I am numb to these injections HH - I realise how vitel they are though, without them I could lose my central vision - Nurse gave me some AB to put direct in eye, she says she wants me back in about a week as there is some fluid build up, The injections can't cure, but they can lesson the symptoms significantly.
