I don`t do "social media" as I find it responsible for an awful lot of problems, worldwide. From bullying and lying to more dangerous suggestions of suicide. I do however enjoy the shared poetry from people such as Don. I may not be able to emulate him, but for better or worse I will tell you a little story. I`ve broken it down into different sections and will try to remember what I`ve published and what is still to come. Constructive criticism more than welcome, Chris.

 Authors Notes

Any reference to persons either living or dead is quite intentional. All names are real, as are the people. I trust that I have given offence to no-one and brought a smile to many. I accept no responsibility for any injuries occasioned whilst laughing.

The author.

Introduction.

This is a small size book inspired by a small person who has, in her own inimitable way, inspired many, many people. It is a collection of tales, anecdotes and family stories which should have been put down in writing many years ago but, as with all best intentions, things tend to be put off. The trigger for writing at this time was a recent family wedding at which the groom was heard to say:" What more could I wish for. Here I am dancing late at night with my 95-year-old Granny." (Jon age 35). The small person referred to, is of course, Granny, 'my Mum', who has in recent times seen her status elevated to that of "Little Granny' as her daughter, being at least, (or should that be at most), two inches taller, is now known as 'Big Granny.’ I have thought about writing down the events in chronological order, but each event being unconnected, the timing is not that important. In fact, in our family timing has never been that important. Timing and being 'on time' rank alongside 'decorum' as things that can be dispensed with at times! Granny, however, will not waste a minute, indeed if there is a minute before she needs to leave the house to catch a bus then out will come the knitting and quick line will be undertaken.

Thank you Lissac. Looking forward to part 11

I agree with you on social media. I was surprised to see on some quiz programme recently that children as young as 7 have their own phone. No wonder so many people have mental health issues. I’m pleased they hadn’t been invented when I was young. I may not have been able to contact my parents at a minutes notice (nor they track my whereabouts, but I think I was a lot safer than youngsters today.

What a wonderful idea and a lovely family tribute. Liking the sound of “Little Granny” I must say. Xxx

Thanks for interesting post, hope that granny can continue using every minute. I’m only child, my mother lived until nearly 112, and she was very active until the last few years. She enjoyed getting birthday cards from the Queen, and celebrating, sometimes she appeared on TV. Best wishes, Jean

Thank you. Sorry to say but my mum, Little Granny died back in 2009, at 103 years of age. She thought 104 would be getting old. And, unfortunately Big Granny, my sister died in 2021 from Liver cancer. Our familyy is dwindling I`m afraid. Have a good evening, Chris.

sorry at your losses, yes my family is dwindling, I only have 2 children, neither of whom have children, but perhaps as I was worn with PCD should be thankful. I have few distance relatives but my family line is closing. My older daughter has terminal MS, but is putting up big fight, and my younger daughter has other health issues, but is happy still riding her horse. Best regards, Jean

Thankfully, here in France we do live with our daughter and family, including 5 grandchildren. It is our older family that is dwindling. We all, unfortunately, get older. Chris.
