Hello,
I realise this is going to be a very strange post, but this is stress that this is a genuine question / request,
I may need a lung transplant in the near future. Nothing is set in stone yet, but it's a possibility. I haven't been in contact with a transplant team yet or anything.
One possible stumbling block: I suffer from some of histamine problem. Some foods and medications make me itch.
I manage my symptoms by taking fexofenadine (antihistamines) 4x daily, and over-the-counter DAO tablets.
I spoke to a pulmonologist about fexofenadine and he didn't seem concerned about taking fexofenadine post-transplant, but he had no idea what DAO tablets were and couldn't offer any answer whether taking them would be permissible.
If anyone is in regular contact with a transplant team that can advise them on which supplements are permissible or not, I would really, really appreciate it if you could ask them whether this supplement is permissible:
Basically, DAO breaks down histamine in the intestines and this supplement provides extra DAO for those that have a histamine problem such as myself.
It's ingredients are:
Cellulose (vegetable source), (Peas * Pisum Sativum, Lentils * Lens Culinaris), Hydroxypropylcellulose (vegetable source), Stearic Acid (vegetable source) and Silicon Dioxide (mineral source).
Again, I realise this is a strange post, but I have no way of finding out this information myself, and I desperately need to know the answer.
Thank you.
