Let the people who run the PR group advise you. They’ll check to see what you can do. Try not to worry about things xxx

Hi Trevor, when I went to rehab the reps. physio catered for everyone individually and I'm sure when you go they will be used to helping people who are in the same position as yourself. Take care😊 xxx

Hi Trevor. The great thing about PR is that the people who run it make it work for you and the participants are there because they too have lung disease. It's great to be amongst others who understand. The exercises are gentle and hopefully will help you.

Do let us know how you find it.

Hi Trevor , Like the others have said no need to worry.

When I went there was a mixture of us in the class, Some were or seemed reasonably fit, others were worse off and had to exercise sitting down. I was somewhere in the middle. When they got to an exercise I struggled with I just sat down , The instructors understood and didnt expect everyone to be able to do everything . There were a few that had oxygen with them, and we were all different ages and build.

Its well worth it. 😉✖✖

Hi, it depends on who is running the course. Some will devise exercises suitable for you, others won't. I have very severe emphysema and was left to do the routine everyone else was doing. I couldn't do it so for me the course was a waste of time. At home I adapted the exercises and did what I could which really they should have done on the course. Good luck, I hope you get a good team running the course.

hopefully you’ll get some good people running this course who will understand that the very reason you’re there is because you have respiratory problems and they will adapt the course accordingly. I hope it will be helpful for you.

Hi Trevor! My consultant has asked my doctor to refer me for PR. I have done the course before, but during Covid and therefore on my own/by phone, so not as useful as it should have been. I am worried too as atm I am very breathless on movement. I am trusting that they take this into account. As they see this every day am sure they will. If not, I can always ask for more help 😊 xxx

Don't worry, they do an assessment to gauge your ability both before and at the end. There will probably be mixed abilities too, perhaps chair based people & people on ambulatory O2.Good luck

I wouldn't be surprised if you end up doing more than you think you could. Good luck.

Dont worry the nurses and physios at PR assess everyone and work each individual to their own level. I went a few months ago and the support I received encouraged me no end. The fact that you are amongst people with varying degrees of lung issues is actually in an odd way almost encouraging. As breathing difficulties are the normal there.

The six weeks went by in a flash, and the knowledge I gained was worthwhile. Along with the fact that the companionship that the group fosters to is a great added bonus. Good luck and enjoy

Hi Trevor....I've had 4 PR's over the years. At my last one in August 23 I was in a wheelchair...my partner had to take me and pick me up. It was a real struggle...I had to really force myself to go. However, by the end of it I was using a rolling walker and could walk from the car park and back...no men feat. Trust the process...no-one will make you do more than you can, but you'd be surprised. It really does do you so much good!

I have attended 2 PR sessions. I have found it helpful and will do it again if offered. Keep to your own pace as I injured myself last time when trying too hard! Good luck :) xxx

Don't worry Trevor it is all within your own limits ,we had people who were attached to oxygen tanks doing it so they are very mindful of all the medical needs and do a small ability test prior

Hi Trevor, You will be clinically and physically checked by the duty physiotherapist or nurse in charge. They will decide if you are 'fit' enough to take part safely. But you should know that their decision is not based on your vulnerability really but the possibility that you will be over-stressed during the exercises. I had 12 sessions in Norfolk and latterly in Essex until I was 80 and they deemed me not fit enough to take part.

Very sad but that was two years ago, I am still here, I get out to coffee somehow every day (scooter and helpful wife/carer!) and life is not too bad. Breathing is increasingly optional however... - sorry, joke! Here is hoping they judge you well and you get the benefits I know are there.

my husband went to PR (severe COPD and SO breathless). It was totally brilliant! Came home all sweaty but eyes glowing. It made a huge difference. We had to have some time out because of my medical problems probs, trying to enrol again. Honestly it’s the best thing you can do.

hi. I waited two years to get a referral to pulmonary rehab then I had a telephone consult and 6 months later a space became available . when I attended we met up in the foyer of a health centre and while walking through to the gym area it was assessed that it would be to dangerous for both me and the other people. I cannot walk properly and I wobble all over the place. it was decided by mutual consent that it was best for all if i did not do it . so you will be fully assessed before you do anything. good luck. kevin
