I have dry lips do always using lip balm. And I do get bad taste in mouth, worse whn have infection.id not associated it with bronchiectasis but who knows x

It maybe from breathing through your mouth instead of your nose.

The bad taste in the mouth might be a side effect of medication or an infection or something else like reflux ? Best to check with doc or dentist even.

Hi, the bad taste it my mouth is indicative of phlegm or a chest infection. No dry lips though. Take care.

Hi there

So yes I have dry lips a lot and told that’s because my nose is blocked and so breathing in and out through my mouth especially at night times. Bad taste could be a link but not sure as I am on regular antibiotics so could be linked to that.

Drink lots of water and also kep a lip balm handy with you. Wish you well x

Acid reflux? This also can be the cause of bronchiectasis, as taking stomach acid into the lungs can damage them. The hay fever season has started. There's catkins growing on the hazel next to our garden.

Hi Lutontown , yeah , I'd heard acid reflux can cause bronchiectasis, but wondered if the bronchiectasis I've had all my life could be causing the reflux I've had for a few year's. However since being on inhaled Colomycin for 7 months the reflux has got really bad.

I've was on omeprozole for a few year's, then Lansoprazole for over a year .

Dr also prescribed Acidex oral liquid.

Now I've been taking so much liquid Gaviscon, but the relief is short lived.

Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Thank you 💕

This can have many causes (small or large) that are not even related to B and so do check with your doctor to check.

It could be an infection that needs antibiotics so again do speak to your doctor so it can be investigated and prevent unnecessary damage. My mum had something similar before her bronchiectasis was diagnosed and her doctor unfortunately ignored it for a long time. In the end she had B and a specific infection that needed specific antibiotics. I'm not saying this is the same as your situation but having a good Dr or hopefully specialist consultant is important for making sure you can sort out or prevent unnecessary problems early and therefore live a healthy life.

Could it maybe be breathing from your mouth?
