pulmonary Rehab

As you are aware , I had my Respiratory consultant appointment few weeks ago, and we’re making well on my side progress, my issue is like others I have to take part again in Pulmonary Rehab, when I hear , these 2 words , I laugh, cause I keep getting referred, rehab , telephone me , introduce them selves, and ask me a few basic questions, then , and this has happened 3 times now , I am thanked for input, and an other member of PR will be in touch with me to start course , it never never happens, it’s frustrating, as my consultants then ask if I have completed each time I see them , then the process starts again . I need advice ?

I'd ring Pulmonary rehab & chase them up x

As Pat says, be pro active and ring them yourself.

Hi

I’m just about to start this.

I’ve had a preliminary phone call to tell me that I will get another phone call to ask some questions , but there is a long waiting list before I can actually get into pulmonary Rehab.

Fingers crossed.

I have been offered a pulmonary rehab course, this is my second one last ones was 5 years ago. I had a date booked for the initial assessment but that was cancelled yesterday, with a comment that I should hear about a new course in February. It will be a face to face course as I won’t do an on line one, I don’t expect to get much out of the exercise but a refresher on all the breathing techniques is useful, assuming I’m actually fit enough to take part. If you want to do the course you could contact them otherwise like a lot of NHS appointments it’s a case of waiting.

I did tell PR I would be happy to take a cancellation, which is how I got in after 5 months instead of a year.

Hi Trevor6 sounds like you have a few problems effecting you at present, re pulmonary rehab when I had a check I was sent to a breathing class at the local hospice and told they don't do pulmonary rehab in my city now. I have been to pulmonary rehab some time ago but it did not work for me due to other health issues. But I did wait a long time to get aplace so hopefully you will soon get things sorted. I had to ring them myself to arrange the assessment and did around 14 weeks in total and a final assessment to show there was no change in my health status. But everywhere is different. I agree with others maybe you should try phoning them yourself see if that speed things up, plus it will show you do want to do it. Good luck and Best wishes

Pulmonary Rehab seems better organised in Essex. I was offered it in October and will have an assessment at the start of February. They also provide both telephone numbers and an email address and tell you to contact them if you have any concerns. It ought to be like this everywhere. I hope you contact them and they put you down for a course quickly. I did a curse 4 years ago and found it very enjoyable. Good luck. xx

I am just finishing a course. It took along time to get on it and there have been a few gaps because of my booked holidays, my sickness and then a few cancellation of days by them because of staff illness too. But it has been extremely useful. You get to know the exercise regime that you should be doing at home and given a lot of very useful information in the education part of the program, I found it very useful to be with other people and we shared a few tips and advice too. It has made me feel a lot more confident about managing my chest problems myself, and everytime you go they do your oxygen sats and BP so someone is keeping an eye on you every week which is very reassuring.

So hopefully you wont have to wait much longer - it is well worth it when you get on the programme. All the best 😀
