Hi Primrose, have you been seen by a social worker to assess your needs? If not ask your GP to refer you. You should be entitled to help with your needs daily, several times a day and possibly for longer than 15 minutes which is a very short length of time. Best wishes.

I can't add much more than 'CDP016' You need to see your GP to see what support you can get and as Patk1 says, to make sure you are claiming things like Attendance Allowance - Wishing you all the best.

despite what the hospital say if you become very unwell go to the hospital they cannot refuse to assist you. Most hospitals have a respiratory team.

If you feel ill enough to need an ambulance the paramedics will do their best to get you to go to hospital. x

where to start, I feel really sad hearing your news and you having nobody during the day as you’re family work. You definitely need more help, speak to age concern and your GP as he has a duty of care, there must be more help somewhere, I know social services are struggling but this is ridiculous.

Good luck

Hi Primrose,

Definitely call the paramedics, if you are not feeling well. I feel rather cross with your hospital! My mother had to go in and out of hospital in her latter years - she was older than you, but had given the NHS very few problems, beforehand. This can sometimes be the only place that has the equipment to deal with your problems on an emergency level.

Depending on your financial level, my mother got her own cleaner, which she preferred, as she liked her and also had the same person a couple of times a week. We tried for attendance allowance, backed by GP, but mum would not state how she was at her worst and wouldn't let me write anything down - she did not want to go into a care home - really wanted to keep her independence. Hence, we were refused the attendance allowance.

Do not be fobbed off by the medics. You really are entitled to quality care at your young age!

sorry to hear of your situation and certainly hope you can get some further assistance as leaving someone to fend for themselves is completely inappropriate so hope and pray you can get some assistance

Your situation is the sort which all the leaflets I've been given say does not happen, Hollow laugh. I hope Social Services can help you. You deserve better than the current situation. xxx

When a hospital tells you they can’t do anything else for you means they should refer you to a hospice. As well as end of life patients hospice’s help those who are palliative, (any one with an incurable progressive illness). I have Aspergillosis and Emphysema and was referred to a hospice 5 years ago, they provide me with advice and help in managing my life.

I agree with others who have said you should still go to the hospital or call the GP / paramedics / ambulance if you feel really ill. How can you decide if it is something that can be made better or not? You need to be seen and, if there is no treatment they can give you, ask them how you can get palliative care.

I feel so sad that you've been told this - however nicely! Perhaps the person who said it needs further training.

xx Moy
