it started with a low back pain, now I can’t move except in agony. Had the helpers come and raise my chair and put a frame around the toilet. They say I can have eight paracetamol and codeine each day. Waking up in the morning and trying to get out of bed is agony. My soon is trying to help. Love Iris x

Oh bless you Iris, l was only thinking about you yesterday. I hope your pain can be relieved and you’ll move a little easier. Thinking of you and sending gentle hugs. Xx🤗🩷❤️🌹
Oh dear I'm really sorry to hear this Iris, its horrible to be in this situation. Have you any idea what might have prompted the agony? I to have back pain. I have a really good massage therapist who comes to my house who keeps me ticking over. Do you have a dossette box for putting the doses of paracetamol & codeine in? Just so you have a timetable and don't repeat the doses.
I hope you'll take the tablets with food every time so they don't upset the tum and with codeine most people have to take extra fibre to 'keep regular' - they're well known for causing constipation.
It might be time to seek medical help especially if the paracetamol & codeine aren't helping.
I'm so sorry to read this Iris. My stepdaughter had similar problems last year. For her paracetamol and codeine weren't very effective. Do let your doctor know if you don't get much pain relief. Sending love, Carole xx
So sorry to read this Iris. Has the doctor been out to see you yet. Sounds like you may need a little more help than codeine. Sending good wishes to you and hope you get better soon x
Very sorry to hear about this Iris. Would you consider physio? My doctor refers me to physio when needed - starting set of 4 sessions on Tuesday - and Ive always found this so helpful. I'm glad your son is helping you but it sounds like you need a bit more than he can provide. Please do call your GP. Thinking of you,
So sorry to hear your in so much pain Iris, I to have back pain paracetamol seem to help a little. I would get our dr in to see if there is anything else they can give you . Peg xxx
So sorry to read this, Iris. I agree with the others that you need to see a doctor and get a stronger painkiller, at least until the pain subsides. Sending lots of love and I hope it won't be long before you're feeling a bit better.
have you ever tried a TENS machine to help with pain relief. I bought one when I had to give up anti inflammatory painkillers due to blood thinners. It helps at times although I think it is a distraction from the pain rather than pain relief but if it works then it can only help. Take care and hope you feel more comfortable soon 🦊x
So sorry to hear this. Had very similar which started about 16 months ago. Every morning I had to totter from my bed to a hot bath with Epsom Salts and stay there minimum 20 mins before I could properly move. Visited GP physio and refused to leave until she referred me for MRI scan. Best thing I could have done. Now on patch with option of up to 8 Panadol Extra/day when very bad. Now have diagnosis from UCLH neuro-surgeon after a one year wait. Do insist on a referral from your GP, please. Advice from peege especially good. I write Panadol Extra dose and time in my diary each time I take it. Also consider interferential treatment from a physio if you can. I can't personally have a back massage (used to love those!) due to nature of my particuolar condition. Good luck, and keep us posted. xxxx
Sorry to hear that. I was wondering what had happened to your Sunday poems. Has anyone suggested pain patches? They do contain morphine and perhaps you don't want to go down that road.
If this pain is not muscular, there is an arthritic condition called Lateral Recess Stenosis, which I have. I'm alright sitting, but pain comes on standing, walking or doing anything in an upright position. If it is muscular, it will go away. If it is spinal, I've found out about a procedure called nerve burning. In this the nerves which tell your brain, that hurts, are killed, so you don't know it's hurting. I'm in a queue to try and get this done. I've twice had a steroid injected in my spine, which works, but only for three months. I've been on Co-codimol 2 x 30/500mg, but tended to give me belly ache, so just use paracetamol now, which doesn't help much.
Thanks so much to everybody who answered my note. I have beeb prescribed one paracetamol and one codeine four times a day. Still very painful to walk but bearable sitting down. Have been dozing a lot today. My son and daughter-in-law law have been so kind, making me something to eat and drink and helping with a charttorememberwhichpillsand when, best wishes to all you kind folk. Love Iris.
Hi! It sounds like you need an X-ray! I’ve got back fractures and I know the pain from that. I’m not saying yours is because it could be muscles or ligaments. I’ve got a Cousin who’s back is like yours and they just treat her with morphine patches. They’ve even doubled up on them. You could ring 111 over the weekend or contact your Dr on Monday. Sorry you are going through this. I know the pain so well.
I also have back issues most likely from all the years of working in a nursing home. Had a few back injuries at work and now after retiring they have shown themselves. I could no
Well.. started to reply then it posted without me finishing...🤨. Anyway to continue... I could not have my knee replacement surgery until I got my back issue under control. Went to a pain doctor and was told that I have SI joint problems and most likely would need a cortisone shot in my back. I do not do well with injected cortisone so decided to try physical therapy which I went in to with a negative attitude... well.. best thing I ever did!! They helped me!! I do some exercises everyday and it helps keep the pain away and if I do get some discomfort I do ghe exercises twice a day. I know my back will never be perfect but I am able to keep it under control and was able to have my replacement surgery which was 4 months ago... ghis can be a long recovery!! So... I hope you find an answer of what is causing your back pain and are able to get it under control. Sending you healing vibes
I do back exercises every morning to get moving. They were given me by physios and osteopaths I have seen over the years, and make a real difference. I've had back problems ever since a road accident in 1977.
Lovely to see you post Iris. Sorry to hear of your back pain. I have a heated gilet type thing that I find helps. I also try to do back exercises given by a physio. It does hurt but eventually helps. I think amitriptyline can help with bad backs but you’d need to speak to your GP about that. Take care. Hope you’re feeling better soon. Let us know how you’re doing xx🤗
