It’s a good antibiotic that’s well tolerated by many to help prevent recurrent chest infections. I’m not sure it boosts immunity but does work well. Pete has been on it for a long time.

He’s ok thank you. Just getting over his nasty fall downstairs. Taking it one day at a time. Xxxx

I’ve been on it for a few years and have only had one chest infection in that time. I don’t know about boosting immunity though.

It most definitely doesn't boost your immunity.... no antibiotic does, infact the opposite .... however I'm on it and it certainly does have its "uses" to prevent infection and reverse inflammation when used over long periods of time

Yes it has anti inflammatory properties.

Yes, when used over longer periods of time (6 months + they tell me)

I wish it did boost immunity, I'd like to be able to buy fewer extra vitamins! I'm afraid that as chip says, antibiotics deplete immunity not boost it. Mind you, having infections also depletes immunity 🤔 😆

my consultant told me the thrice weekly treatment is using the tablets as anti inflammatory rather than antibiotic, thereby calming the lungs.

It doesn't say it boosts your immunity. I stopped taking it as believe too many antibiotics are not good . When you do have an exasperation and take emergency pack that's the way to treat it I don't agree taking Azithromycin 3 times a week prevents infections. Why take antibiotics when you don't have an infection its like taking a paracetamol incase you get a headache xx.Sheila 💕

Azithro also works as an anti-inflammatory and not a simple antibiotic. My advice for what it is worth, is keep taking them. Although I have no proof, I do know that when my wife had Covid, she was nowhere near as ill as I was with Covid. She has been taking Azithro for about 4 years and it has made a difference. have a good day, Chris.

I agree. I am under Immunology and Rispiratory for my lungs. Sept 2023 Covid vaccine and got Covid again. My hubby too. Sure taking my antibiotic helped me . My husband has struggled longer with his chest. I think my vaccine kicking in plus antibiotic , ventolin etc all helped very much.

Pete takes the azithromycin three times a week and he’s only had one chest infection this year because of covid after effects. He does very well on it but I dare say it had its downside too. Each to their own I say.

Hope you’re doing a little better now. Have a lovely day. Hugs,

I have been trialling this for about a month as I was very unwell with chest infections earlier in the year, taking a long time to recover energy. I am hoping I will be less likely to develop chest infections and most importantly that I won't have to keep avoiding people for fear of catching viruses like coughs and colds. I am concerned though that I appear to be producing more mucus and having more coughing fits to clear it.

If you are producing more mucus you are probably clearing your lungs better. Take care, Chris.
