I'm with Alberta56, I used to be prescribed the breath actuated, easi-breathe. When in asthma exacerbation & needed t I couldn't get a deep enough inhalation so it was no good for me. Much prefer ventolin with a spacer, haven't yet had to use the Salamol now prescribed in place of ventolin. P
Yes, tricky isn’t it ? The thing is though COPD ( Emphysema and Chronic Bronchitis ) is a collection of symptoms marked by difficulty amongst other things in getting the air out of our lungs. The condition varies so much between individuals so it is a bit trial and error and I have a large Asthma component to mine.
so pleased it works for you. You’ve probably been moved on to it as ventolin is being phased out as the go to inhaler. The excuse relates to greenhouse gases but many of us think it’s monetary and we don’t get on with salamol which is the standard substitute. My lovely nurse moved me on to salbutamol easyhaler instead of salamol and ok so far. She’s going to try other options if necessary. Ventolin is still my preferred option. So much so I’ve bought one privately for peace of mind.
I have also had my Salbutamol changed to Salamol which is a cheaper version according to my Pharmacist. She also pointed out that although it now has no CFC’s it’s flammable so should not be used near anyone who is smoking which is rather scary. I havnt used mine yet.
It seems we’re all being changed to Salamol. I don’t get on so well with it, but fortunately don’t need it very often since being put onto Fostair and Spiriva.
It's had the opposite effect on me. I now have to use the inhaler more often than I did with ventolin and salamol inhalers don't last as long. They are changing it due to the price of producing it rather than being any better. 3 different pharmacists have told me this as I search for ventolin. The best way is to ask your gp to add it to the prescription
