Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Hi Im in the middle of a bronchietasis flareup folowing flu 6 weeks ago and chest infection. Ive had a week of Amoxycilin a course of steroids and now coming to the end of 2 week Doxycycline. Im not sure Im back to my self.Yesterday I had my first session in the divers tank ( the service runs out of the local MS centre). I know friends with non lung conditions have felt relief. Im aware copd and empheseyma are contraindications. Has anyone with bronchiectasis used oxygen therapy?

I think that you should get setious advice from your bronch consultant before doing this. It is 100% concentrated oxygen which can be harmful to our type of damaged lungs. At 73 yrs old and having bronch all my life I had oxygen for the first time aftar a recent operation. They were anxious to.get me off it. It sounds as though you have not had the right antibiotics for long enough for your exacerbations. Also, unlesd you have asthma with it, steroids are not a treatment for bronch. Please check on your consultant's experience. They should be a bronch specialist.

I do have chronic eocinophilic asthma, generally thats controlled.

No not tried it. It was suggested then dropped as it might make things worse? Ages ago. I am up and down and have been for years. I think I am getting little infections most of the time but have avoided my emergency antibiotics for while now.
