Four main misconceptions that people have when I tell them I have PF (this can include by healthcare professionals too)

1) it is the same as COPD (nurses and some GPs even think this)

2) caused by smoking (I’ve never smoked)

3) It’s an old person’s disease (I was diagnosed at 36)

4) that I will get better!!!

There are probably more but those are the main ones that particularly bug me!!!!

what bugs me most is that people ask what’s wrong with me but then have little or no understanding of PF or the implications of the disease.

I really feel public awareness is lacking & sadly we need someone famous on tv talking about it (think how much more we know about bowel cancer or MND)
