Going back work again.

After another 8 days of resting, it is time to dip my toes back into the work environment once more. Next week will be my check-up, x-ray and bloods, to make sure that I am free from pneumonia, that put me in hospital 5 weeks ago, it seems a lot longer than that though. A chilly 6/7°C outside at the moment so I will be wearing my snood, as a precaution, wearing lots of layers as well of course.

I hope your return to work goes well. Keep warm and don't overdo things (which I know you don't need to be told!) All best wishes for your check-up next week 🤞

Fair play to you 2greys and many people wouldnt/couldn't begin to think of returning to work until fully recovered. But then, many people wouldn't have gone ⛵sailing on the Norfolk Broads after 5 days in 🏥 hospital!

Your determination is incredible and I'm rather blinking jealous 😜. Remember that Sharon will be watching to 👀 see the first signs of you over doing it!!💞

5 weeks ! Did i not read that 3 months were recommended a nd 6 months before being back to normality.

Do take it easy. That will be difficult for you, I know.

Yes you did. The plan is to do 3 days of 8 hrs this week, then a long weekend of 4 days, hospital on the Monday ,subject to being a dry day, if not Tues or Wed. with another 3 days x 8 hrs work next week. Today was the real test to do a full day, which went well. I do have an advantage over most in that I am pretty fit, active and have been for all these years.

Better than i thought but 8 hr days !

Agreed keeping active is important, essential, but you might find it easier to do less at first and work up to it. Your body has to adapt as you will be less resilient and the muscles suffer. My experience I wss happy to lose a little weight until i found it was muscle wastage not fat .

I have, I started with 7 hr days 2 weeks ago. I am fine, as I have pointed out below, I have had the vaccination which perhaps shielded me from the worse effects and has enabled a rapid recovery.

Reading of your experience of having pneumonia encouraged me to get the jab last week so thanks for that 😀. Fingers crossed it will protect me for a long time.

It will protect you against most strains of pneumonia, but not all. I had the vaccination 3 1/2 years ago. Perhaps that is why it did not hit me so hard and I have had a rapid recovery.

Good luck

So glad the day back to work went well for you. I think as said before that you thrive at work so perhaps this is the best medicine for you. Hope your check up goes just as well x

Of course I do, it is constructive. Some do modelling, ie. Cas making her village, some make paintings, some make drawings, some make knitted items. I am no different, I make parts for high speed printing machines and I get the same satisfaction as others do, The only difference is that it's just dirtier and noisier.

You are so lucky 2greys finding the job that you love, mine was just to make ends meet and I couldnt wait to retire, that is not to say that I dont enjoy doing the things that I love, like the garden, art, being creative. So glad you found your niche x
