Hi Adnan, I'm afraid I know nothing about lung reduction surgery, but I wish you well with your enquiries. You could call or Email the site helpline, the number is above 😀 xx

Are you in the care of a respiratory consultant at the hospital after all those admissions? Those are the sorts of questions you should ask him or her.

Hi Ergendi l am living in Ankara - Turkey..l think the sistem here is little different than United Kingdom .. the lung reduction operations here mostly done at private hospitals...it's an rants door..what l wanted to learn about was is there any body got any benefits from this operation.. the Manager of the hospital always says you will run 100 km after you did this operation...😄👍

Sorry Adnan60 I’ve no knowledge at all about the procedures you’ve mentioned . My husband had emphysema for many many years but was never offered any of those treatments. I presume there are many factors that would affect the decision to operate , not least age and chances of success . I’m sure there are people on the site who have had the op , hopefully they’ll be along soon with more info for you . Good luck 😊

Thanks for your comment.... You said that your husband had emphysema for many many years but was never offered any of those treatment.. Do you mean that he medicines he was getting was enough and the emphysema wasn't effecting his life allot? .. was he getting any difficulty in doing the daily works..... My problem is when l spend any effort as riding the stairs or walking little quickly l am feeling my self very tired...sometimes l have to rest fiew minutes to ride 8 steps stair...thanks anyway

I’m only assuming that the procedures you mention come with risks that presumably are greater with age . My husband was 57 when diagnosed and whilst the condition did force him to slow down we were able to enjoy life pretty much as usual for 12 years - holidays abroad etc , although he was very breathless at times and had to adapt to a slower pace of life . As you said some days were good some very difficult indeed. Aged 69 his condition did deteriorate but he still continued to push himself , doing the washing up , leaning on the sink , going slowly round the supermarket leaning on the trolley . We just found ways for him to lead as normal a life as possible , I don’t think we would’ve accepted invasive procedures had they been offered at his time of life 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wish you well if you are given the op , please let us know how you go on 😊

Hi Adnan60

I am sorry but our medical advice is restricted to UK guidelines. I did find a Turkish Hospitals Directory online you could contact for information, and have added the link for you below. They may be able to recommend a practitioner you could see. Or ask at your local pharmacy, they may be able to advise you?

I hope this helps

They will make a full check up...To be honest, my doktor said me before that they can't repair my lung and the emphysema is not that diseases which can be treated... So, l will wait ..👍😄

That's very strange I also have copd lately my breathing has got worse for what ever reason the hospital never sent for my normal 12mth valve check last year the year before their was a decrease so am being to wonder if this breathless is not all down to the copd it could be my heart valve due to replace

Thanks jacsh ... My doctor said me the same.. sometimes cardiological or urological reasons might be a reason of hard birthing or breathless.... Last time l gone to hospital l did a checkup at urulogy section and they find the value of urea very high.. .. the medicines l got was helpful to solve the problem..
