Hi everyone I live in Spain, I have a friend coming to stay with me from the Uk. We were quoted over 400 euro for a supply over a 2 weeks period, does anyone know if my friend is entitled to Oxygen using the Ehic ? Any advise would be appreciated.
Oxygen on holiday ??: Hi everyone I... - Lung Conditions C...
Oxygen on holiday ??
I am not sure of the arrangements which are possible.
Does this help at all ?
If your friend uses a portable concentrator for ambulatory use just take it with you and say nothing, this was the advice I received from my local hospital because of the cost. Long term use i.e large concentrator or bottles I really don't know for sure but your local oxygen provider should be able to help with advice, although I suspect the cost to be pretty high I was quoted £ 800 for 2 weeks hire of a concentrator.
Good luck.
Hi I travel to Spain a lot and I always use my E 111 and I never pay for Oxygen what you have to do is contact your local hospital have a copy of your friends prescription, copy of E111 card, and a letter from the Doctor of your friends condition and they will contact the company and have it delivered to your house I hope this is helpful to you
Ps what part of Spain?
To avoid confusion: E111 is replaced by European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
Here is a direct link (also within PollyP's link):
Yes you can get it through the EHIC it is complicated and I can't remember now how I did it last year I know I had to find online the local spanish medical area or maybe nearest Spanish hospital and email a copy of my oxygen prescription and copy of my EHIC card and anyway they arranged it and it was waiting in my hotel room when I arrived. I had also told the hotel to expect delivery. Good luck. xx
