unusual cough with phlegm, maybe it’s nothing?

for the past 5 months or so I’ve had a cough that has produced a bit of phlegm (I’d say maybe the size of a pea every hour as I cough). The cough sounds dry and not like something very phlegmy. This all started because of covid that I caught at the start of December last year. The phlegm progressed from a fairly solid white to white watery and flavourless, where the attached image is a little gob that I just coughed up.

Along with this it feels like my hay fever has picked up quite a lot since catching covid and it feels like I’m quite congested throughout my throat aswell.

Beside this I’ve had no signs of breathlessness either and though I’ve had some fatigue I think it is because I’m in my last year of high school.

I have found that the amount of phlegm that I cough will increase if I feel extra anxious, and the mornings tend to be worse than any other time.

the main reason I’m reaching out is because a I saw a doctor who said it would just go away on its own and it still hasn’t. This has been a massive burden where there hasn’t been a day since early December where I haven’t had severe anxiety that there is some sinister health condition laying underneath.

Along with this, I can’t figure out if it is something I should have checked out again or if it can be dumbed down to a post nasal drip, as I can’t tell the difference between snot produced from allergies or something produced in my airways.

Finally a positive is that the phlegm amount does decrease when I have some telfast.

Thanks for your time and feedback 😁

I think you may need to talk to your doctor about your anxiety. That may be exacerbating the problem.

I found my cold and sore throat this winter was a bit worse than normal, and I had Covid in July which wiped me out for about 10 days. Thanks to the jabs, it wasn't anything worse. My main problem is covid has left the skin in my nasal passages very thin, so any nasal infection makes them bleed again as they did during covid.

The main reason for explaining this is that covid leaves some long term traces which take time to show and time to go away. Doctors are still learning about these. Do go back to your doctor and explain your anxiety. Then start living life to the full as much as you can, so that your thoughts are filled with fun things rather than health fears. Wishing you all the best.
