Webinar and tips for visiting Saltaire.

On Monday I will be joining a webinar organised by Harefield entitled ' The road to transplant ' so that should be enlightening. In April we are going to Saltaire, near Bradford, for a few days. Unusual as we rarely travel north of Birmingham. 😁 It sounds a very interesting place with a fascinating history, which is why I chose it. I was wondering if any of you lung buddies are local, or have visited, and have any tips for me? Any places off the beaten track that are worth a visit? Thankyou and have a good weekend.

The Fisherman’s- nr Bingley. It has picnic tables on the canal side. Lovely on a good day.

I lived in Bingley for a year and then Shipley for 2 years. I continued to visit for many years - Bradford mainly just to see old friends- but haven’t been back for quite a few years.

What kind of things interest you?

Cartwright Hall not too far from Saltaire has exhibitions. Also, the Science and Media museum in Bradford Centre gets some interesting stuff. Bradford Town Hall is a nice looking building and then there is the Alhambra Theatre, again in Bradford Centre.

There is also Bolling Hall beyond Bingley that is said to be interesting - never been - rumoured to be haunted and has something by Chippendale.

Skipton might be worth a visit. It also has a market on certain days.

I forgot to mention Skipton Castle. Again, not been in it - too busy shopping😁 And also Bradford curries😁😁

There are many interesting places in that area of Yorkshire. Skipton, Ilkley and Otley are worth visiting.

Salts Mills has a great cafe, art gallery and shops. There are several floors in the building but there is a lift. It’s worth booking online for lunch as the queues can be huge. The canal walk is fab and very flat. You can also go on short barge trips on the canal. The Bronte museum in Haworth isn’t too far away and the village of Haworth is lovely but a little hilly.

Thankyou. Salts Mill is our first port of call. It's what attracted me first so I'm looking forward to visiting.
