Medication and breathing tips

I have recently been put on carbocisteine liquid to help clear my chest. I am asking all you lovely people advice about certain side effects I'm getting. Painful trapped wind and loose stools. Also after 4 days on it I woke this morning and tried coughing, well I honestly thought my number was up. Breathing went really rapid and had tingling in my head and only just managed to slow it down. Cried my eyes out for a few minutes because it was so frightening. Are there any other tricks that will work quicker as its hard to try and slow it while it's so rapid. Sorry for the long post but not sure now if trelegy is the one for me as I've used it since November and only had one good week. And replies I will be so grateful πŸ™ πŸ˜‰

Morning Mellywelly, I have been taking this medication for years and never had any side effects. Maybe you could have a chat to your doctor about it, hope you get well soon x

Hi carbocysteine can have side effects like diahorrea but it's not suitable for everyone I changed to acetylcysteine/nacsys effervescent tablets which are better for me and only 1 in water in the morning

it sounds as if you had better go back to your doctor to talk about both Carbocisteine and Trelegy, since neither seems to suit you. Good luck with getting more suitable meds. xxx

I take 2 carbocisteine capsules 2x daily. Perhaps try reducing the dos or ask for alternative. Good luck!

How very frightening for you, Mellywelly. I agree with the other replies - talk this over with your GP . I do hope you are feeling better soon xx

Hi Mellywelly I had bad reaction from Carbocisteine so I rang the Royal Brompton help line and they put me on Acepiro which I personally found better, Maybe you could have a chat with them. Hope you get help.
