Pseudomonas and carpets?

Does anyone know if Pseudomonas is in carpets? I tore out 2 rooms a few yrs ago and put Laminate in and so glad i did it but still have carpeting in my bedroom and office in my house and wonder if maybe Pseudomonas is in it as I have had 6 courses of Iv antibiotics for colonized Pseudomonas this year and just finsihed 2 weeks of Iv Ceftazine and still feel sick.

Will be trying to start Cayston tonight but once before tried it but my throat was too sore had to quit.

I know u cant get this in the UK . I am in California.

any advise appreciated.

Pseudomonas is everywhere but particularly in warm wet areas such as spas and jacuzzis which my doc described as pseudomonas soup!I live with some carpet in my house and find that the pseudo with which I am colonised only plays me up if I have had a virus caught from some other human. There is no reason that a carpet that is clean and well vacuumed would harbour more pseudomonas than a dusty hard floor.If you feel better taking up the carpet, why not do just that.

I don't think I mentioned MAC. No idea what that is. I said that maybe they should check for fungus or NTM

mac is the same as ntm. here is the us they call it that i believe. do u know anyone who has this?

Not personally but there are many who have bronch and NTM. There is even a newsletter dedicated to it.

In order to determine if you have MAC, you need to have three consecutive sputum cultures. It’s a very slow growing pathogen.

I had MAC several years ago, it began with feeling uncommonly tired. My sputum was a yellowish colour and I had a high positive bacterial count.

Are you being told that you have this?

I have been looking at your posts and see that you have had a lot of IV with no improvement. Have your doctors looked for fungus infectiom or ntm? Either of these may be the reason that you are so unwell.

Not checked for Mac lately but i think they should. have a culture there now. I am sicker starting yesterday after last dose of iv med. non stop mucas nose and mouth. throat sore. cannot start cayston as they forgot to send me the special. nebulizer.

MAC is the most common NTM.. here. IT stands for Mycobacterium Avian Complex. I pray i don

't have this.

That is associated with keeping birds. NTM non tubercular mycobactum is the more common one to have alongside bronchiectasis.

MAC is present in the soil and seeks out immunocompromised types, persons with HIV/aids and end stage alcoholics. Unless a person has a high bacillary load it isn’t always necessary to treat. Otherwise, oral and sometimes IV chemotherapy is recommended.

I. am immunocompromised and get IV gammagobulin monthly life long which raises my immunity a little bit. This is genetic. But i can get any bug around due to this.

OK, but here in the US it is referred to more commonly as "mac" when Dr.;'s are speaking to us about it. The. culture takes mons to diagnose this tho. Don't know what other tests they can run do you?

My understanding is that pseudomonas is in the lungs and is renowned as being very difficult indeed to eradicate, I don’t think external factors count for much as factors . Good luck.

good day i just had lamiate flooring put down in my flat it was cold at first got used to it now i have bad copd / asma / newmoaner / dyebetos boarder line seehow it goes i had it done part way a few years ago now its all fully done all the best ghoust rider

As I understand it, pseudomonas can be found anywhere in the environment. It seems most likely on areas of dampness, like bathrooms and toilets. But we shed skin cells all the time and this does build up in carpets especially. So anything is then possible, even probable. Years ago I switched our home in Norfolk (UK) to all tiles and laminate with good effect. But we now live in a flat where carpets are a requirement (sound proofing) and I am pretty sure it is not the best environment for a severe COPD etc sufferer!

I did exactly the same 4 years ago. Carpets harbour all kinds of bugs from ‘ Carpet moths down to bacteria…good shut to Carpets, I say, I also recommend air filter devices in the main occupying rooms.

An interesting question to which I don't know the answer. But, my consultant, ages ago, asked about my environment. We have wooden floors, curtains only in the bedrooms and no pets. She said it was less likely to cause harm than lots of pets, soft furnishings etc. I styled my home this way cuz I like it but its a bonus that it's not harming me.

I can’t help with carpet but the sore throat and often people suffer sore mouth as well I now use an expensive mouthwash the sort you get if you had teeth out after I take inhaler especially when I start the new one also I find the spacer with mask really helps to stop sore throat worth a try good luck xx
