Tooth Extractions and Bronchiectasis. Any experiences?

I am going to have my tooth extraction this week and my dentist said i have to have it asap. This is my first extraction after being diagnosed with bronch. Do I need to ask my pulmonologist of whether to have an extraction or not? Any tips and experiences would be of a great help

At my age I have had lots of dental work, an implant and several extractions. Never a problem. Make sure that you have cleared your lungs before so that you are comfy lying in the chair.

No advice Warrior except that if we take steroids or use a steroid inhaler we must inform our dentists & dental surgeons. They have to use different anesthesia , one without the adrenaline.

I’ve had 2 extractions since my actual diagnosis and several before diagnosis and I was fine. I’m steroid dependent so I had to double my dose for a couple of days.

My experience:

I’ve had my remaining top and bottom teeth extracted, replaced by All on Fours, top and bottom arch.

The longest procedure took 8 hours under local anaesthetic.No problem at all, as the dental nurse used a suction device in my mouth when needed.

The whole process was completed over 5/6 months here in Dublin, a temporary set were made to try out, fit colour etc.,

Finally the permanent ones fitted, because of the suction NO coughing, none at all.

I would do it all again. I hope this helps in your decision making.

Didnt have any issues getting a tooth extracted. Just make sure the Dentist has your up todate history/medication forms and all relevant information.

They are a lot more comfortable and don’t require a plate.
