I have also been through a similar process with the Brompton, my FEV1 had dropped to 28% over a number of years. After many checks, advice from the Brompton was that I was a suitable candidate for LV reduction and they recommended valves as this would be available to me quicker than conventional surgery albiet that the conventional surgery at a later date would remain an option. They fully informed me of the pros/cons for this procedure before a joint final decsison was taken and I have since had valves fitted (Nov 22). Presently working on my fitness to gain the max benefit. To early to say if this procedure has made a significant difference to my lung function but I have lost the chest tightness associated with copd at my stage and feel more comfortable.
