I’m travelling to Tenerife on the 12th March for a holiday. This is the first time fling since bronchiectasis diagnosis in 2020

I have a large amount of meds to take and want to take them in hand luggage on the risk of my suitcase going missing

The meds include Colomycin bd with saline to dilute and also hypertonic saline

As this includes liquids , will this be a problem through security

And has anyone any experience of this

I have done this many times. So does my granddaughter who has to take her diabetes meds with her. Contact the airline for medical support. You should get an extra weight allowance for the cabin too..you may have to show all at security but the airline should advise you.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Was thinking of contacting airline. Need to be reassured security will be ok

My husband type 1 for over 20 years now and just takes repeat prescription. No problems at all

I'm sure that you will sort it out

Rang jet2 special assistant line. Very helpful and reassuring. No problems. Booked extra cabin bag at no cost with regular 10kg allowance. Such a weight off my mind. Hope mine and littlepoms experience helps any of you

That’s good to know as I regularly travel with an awful lot of meds ( couldn’t possibly keep in original boxes as would not fit in hand luggage allowance size) I am away 4 weeks on most trips. I have Bronchiectasis Asthma Epilepsy RA & more which required injections in cool bag with 4 ice packs. I often have an issue with the ice packs at security & a couple of times with injections when they tried to take each one out of the box to measure & see the liquid inside! I argued & asked for a manager & all was Ok.

I also have eye drops they are on prescription so pop them in clear bag. Can you get a letter from your delivery company for your extra equipment? I have one from Lloyds Homecare who deliver my injections. Take a copy of your prescription too. The airline are always fine. I inform them beforehand.

I havnt used Jet 2 but that’s really useful to know. Thank you. I hope your trip goes well & you have a lovely time x

Can`t add much to what has been said about airports but will add that a holiday in warm climate, plenty of sunshine will hopefully mean you need less medication. Winter months for people with breathing problems can be troublesome. Enjoy your holiday and leave space in the suitcase to bring back some sunshine, Chris.

Sounds like you have been given good advise BEaChbe4cH and great news that you have been given extra hand luggage allowance with no cost to you. Have a fantastic holiday, hope all goes well for you and the sunshine will do you the world of good. My daughter sold her house in Tenerife but kept the apartment and they have just come back from a 10 day stay there x
