I met my late husband 70 years ago today, at a free dance at a church hall. It was their first wanted to attract people, and it worked, even with the modest charge following weeks. We always laughed about being persuaded to go as it was free. Happy memories.

Such wonderful memories Jean, lovely to have. I met Pete at high school initially but we started going out together 54 years ago. It’s our golden wedding anniversary later this year.

Enjoy your day. Xxx❤️

Dances have a lot to answer for!I left home at 18 to take a live in job in a children's home. The other girls were planning a Halloween dance but as I had just split from my boyfriend and knew no one in the area, they fixed up a meeting with my (now) husband.

He was 'the one'! Six weeks later we were engaged and married two days short of a year from the day we met.

We're heading for our 53rd anniversary next September and I count myself lucky to have met my soul mate so early in my life.

We've had our ups and downs, of course, but more ups, I'm pleased to say!

Enjoy your memories of your special day!

Xx Moy

Thanks for your lovely story, yes dances were places to meet. 12 months after we met my husband had to do compulsory National Service, we agreed we would still go out individually, and I did, usually to dances. He served abroad first 12 months, then was posted to area about 60 miles from me, no public transport to get home, so that’s when he used money he saved from paper round to buy small second hand motorbike, and that started our 60 years of biking!

Congratulations as you head for your 53 rd anniversary, Jean x

It's so lovely of you to share those memories. It must have been an interesting courtship!I've never ridden on a motorbike. Bet it was fun! Xx Moy
