after 8 days in hospital with breathing problems i have been home nearly 2 weeks, before hospital i could walk 100 yards before having to rest, i can't walk around the house now without getting puffed ,so i have bought a folding mobility scooter to get me out and about.

Hi Whit. Wishing you a healthy recovery in 2023. Don't give up with excercise as it took me months to get back to near my base line after hospitalisation. Have fun on the scooters but try not to terrorise the rest of us on foot😂 Happy New Year to you 👍

Hope you enjoy getting out on your scooter. Mine's been a godsend. I walk when I can but when going a bit further it's great to hop on it. And picking up shopping is so much easier too. When I got mine, my physio daughters-in-law was afraid I might stop walking and use it all the time. I explained it is my 'car' as I can't drive anymore, so gives me independence. I walk when I can.

I'm sure you will get your strength back eventually, but for now, the scooter will make a huge difference. Wish I'd got mine a few years ago.

Xx Moy

The scooter sounds a very good idea, but I think your mobility will come back gradually. It's a nuisance, but it takes ages for we lungies to recover after any setback. Good luck and Happy New Year. xxx

Happy New Year. Studies on fit healthy subjects show they start to loose muscle tone and mass after just 24 hrs bed rest, so think what happened to you with 8 days of rest. just take it easy and use your scooter to get to places you want, so you can walk when there. Think of it as an "Ability Aid"

Sorry to hear you have not come out of hospital being able to do the same as before you went in. Perhaps speak to your respiratory nurse about looking at inhalers if you are on them and not had a check up for a while. Mobility scooter will get you out and about. Hope your New Year continues to improve. Brian
