Lightweight mobility scooter

Morning all, I’ve had to give up driving due to sight problems . I use a scooter for around my local area but need a smaller, lighter, one for taking on buses, trains and taxis so I can still get out and about. Can anyone recommend one, please . I don’t mind used or reconditioned, I just want something I can nip on and off buses and the like and not too expensive . Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks. X

Hi CELAT, sorry to hear you can’t drive anymore. Pete has a Drive mobility scooter that folds down to the size of a medium suitcase but still weighs 22 kgs. Pete lifts it into the boot of the car but I don’t think I could do it. It cost around £1700. You might find a second hand or re-conditioned one that’s cheaper to buy. I wish you well. Xxx

Look at careco.co.uk they have light weight scooters you can use on/off buses. They will also give great advice if you explain what you are looking for.

Ring your local bus company and they will tell you the .maximum size you can take on the bus. Stage coach actually sent a bus just for me to show.how to get on and off with it. They then gave me a pass to show I had passed test

I'm doing the same thing, researching 'boot scooters' - the lightest appears to be the Travel Scoot, which is not cheap but folds - one other which I am now checking out is the .Scooty' - as I don't want the bother of having to take it apart, then put it back together which applies to many of the cheaper ones. There are many sites on-line, also You Tube. We have used Mobility Scooters Plus for our 'big' scooters, as they gave a good price & delivered. Hope this helps.
