i had a cold mid November and ended up taking rescue pack (doxycycline and pred.) this did not help. Was then given clarythomycin and pred and this only helped a little. Had 10 days without anything other than inhalers (serevent and salbutamol) Christmas day cough was worse and yesterday had to go back to yet another rexcue pack. My chest sounds clear during mid day time and morning is the worst and ev ening. I do not have an infection just excessive coughing and clear mucous. Any ideas how I can improve this,,, drinking plenty of water, deep breaths and steam inhalation. I really am at my wits end and am 5 weeks in. This is my first time of posting and never had a flare before if that is what it is, Thank you x

Excessive mucous
Welcome to the forum.i would read up on lung clearance techniques and start at minimum morn n night.ask to see a lung physio too.sounds like mucous is causing coughing + u may take back control by dedicating time to clear it x
Thank you I am doing lung clearance techniques frequently and also use an air physio and just about everything else there is. I need to stop the amount of mucous I am producing as yes it does cause the cough, there is no infection. Thanks for getting back to me, Docs again this morning
Carbosisteine /Mucodyne will help clear the mucus . I take these daily . Ask your GP or Respiratory team to prescribe them . Also I take 2weeks of Amoxicillin with prednisone in my rescue pack as prefer to Doxycycline. Sheila 💕
Hi thank you. I do already take carbocisteine but they only thin mucous and I am trying to not produce so much, Any ideas ? thank you for replying
I drink plenty of water so dont have a problem. Yes Carbosisteine thins mucus so then it isnt a problem. You can take Carbosisteine up to 4 times a day ,are you doing this xxSheila 💕
hi and welcome. Coughing is the worst symptom for me. It can be so violent and repetitive. It does eventually subside. Do you have a salamol inhaler ? I took extra puffs of mine and it helped. Can’t give advice on the mucus as that’s one effect I don’t get a lot of. Take care. Drink fluids keep warm x
I think you need to consult your respiratory consultant or an expert nurse, assuming you have such a person. I was told by an asthma nurse that Trelagy would reduce the amount of mucus I was producing. Unfortunately it dried it up so I couldn't get rid of it. My respiratory physiotherapist told me it is not suitable for people with bronchiectasis. `We need really expert advice for our varios conditions.
