EDAC/ asthma
Hi, I cannot help I'm afraid however, to the right (on my tablet, if youre using a phone it's probably scroll down) there's a section called 'Related Posts', there you'll see a couple of posts on EDAC which might be helpful and there's also the search box. All the best, Peege
SNAP me too... infact recently diagnosed EDAC (summer time) but probably had it all my life
And was diagnosed asthmatic at about 9 months old
SO EDAC falls under the LAC (large airway collapse) category of conditions, which includes trachea broncho malacia (TBM) and EDAC
With EDAC the biggest issue is clearance and mucus... the mucus "hangs around" and causes breathlessness and chest infections and other random issues... the consultant likes to call it "floppy airways"
I've had:
A Hypertonic saline challenge (really really salty saline to see if I could tolerate it).... I could and they prescribed Hypertonic saline (I had to buy the nebuliser myself)
Carbocistine ... a tablet thats only purpose in life is to make mucus really really thin, less sticky and easier to move
Respiratory physio, the lady I saw was explaining how to breathe to help keep some of the air in my lungs (to keep the airways open) and also gave me an aerobika PEP device
I'm also on a ton of asthma stuff that help keeps airways open and inflammation down and an antihistamine for good luck
All of this done together should in theory help to keep me free of mucus, breathing as well as I can and ... hopefully live a very long time
