Nattokinese

I've just been reading through various pages in Pulmonary Fibrosis UK page and read an article about systemic enzymes, Nattokinese in particular, which can reduce fibrotic scarring in the body, including lungs. Has anyone researched, or tried this supplement?

I would suggest anyone considering this supplement do so with great caution and have a discussion with someone who understands both your condition and any meds you might be taking.

One of the potential impacts of Nattokinase is an increased potential for bleeding. Bearing this is also listed for drugs, such as Nintedanib, I'd be extremely wary.

Of course...that's the best thing to do with any supplement. I did read that if you take aspirin or any blood thinner, you must not take Nattokinese. I was simply wondering if anyone had either researched or tried it

Hi! I am taking nattokinase. I take a supplement of 2,000FUs first thing in the morning and last thing at night, I also take a little packet of natto during the day. I have ME, Long Covid and COPD which I was told was mild but I have yet to have a spirometry test after 3years. I had pains in my skull and tinnitus from the long covid and they have both gone. I walk up the stairs without getting so breathless and my husband says that I am more alert! I've been taking all that natto for about a month and I started just with the small packets, presuming they would be the safest, as people in Japan have been eating it for years. If you go onto Long Covid pages on social media, you will find out a lot about it. I hope that it is dissolving the fibrin in the micro blood clots in my body. It does thin the blood and can cause bleeding but I haven't come across anyone with that experience.

does it upset your stomach? Also, have your scans improved?

No upset stomach. I don't get any scans. I'm stuck in bed!

I have read numerous postives on this...even Serrapeptase. BUT, no one talks about the fact that there is a small chance that these enzymes can cause pneumonia. For that reason I hesitate.

Yes I've read that too but also a study that didn't identify anyone it had happened to. Although pneumonia is the last thing anyone with a lung problem needs so it definitely puts you off doesn't it?
