Back up oxygen

Another power cut on Monday, 3-30 pm to 10.30 pm. I was forced to use my back up cylinder and my booklet from the wonderful people at Baywater Health says that if I use it I need to order a replacement even if it is not empty. I feel so bad doing this as they are large and heavy and I have a lot of stairs up to my maisonette yet I would be scared not to have the full supply in case of a longer cut. The welfare team at Electricity Northwest did ring and update me but cannot guarantee that there will not be further faults and I must admit I now feel rather nervous.

I would feel nervous too but do ring Baywater for a replacement. They won't mind and, after all, you are following their advice.

Power cuts are scary especially when they go on and on. Storm Eunice cut me off for over 9 hours and I had to go on to my big cylinder. My oxygen company replaced it happily and said I must always let them know. I know you feel bad about the stairs, but they have advised you to do it and they are used to lugging those cylinders about. 🙂

this scares me as I’m on full time oxygen. The large cylinders only last me 2 hours as I’m on high flow. I dread the power cuts starting in my area. Baywater are really thou. Thank goodness.

That's good, but do they have any Plan B to help you and the other vulnerable people in your area if another fault turns up? xxx

Just a promise to repair it as quickly as possible and the advice to call an ambulance if all else fails.x

Grrr! Don't they have generators to wheel out?

I was told that they have to supply a generator but there has been no mention of one. At least the latest news is that they don't expect any more unplanned cuts at the moment.
