hi to all,

does anyone know if the oxygen the scuba divers use is suitable for medical use. i ask as i am on oxygen and do like to just get up and go off,i do have a POC but would like to carry oxy bottle as back up and getting it filled might be a problem but if your near the coast there will be a dive place nearby. BLF do not know the answer.

Hi

It seems not, they use a mix of two gases.

They probably would not use the same refill procedure, due to operating pressures.

Definitely not - according to my master scuba diving son.

Your oxygen supplier can give you filled oxygen cylinders to have with you when your out

The information from Stone and Toci seems quite compelling, it seems it would be dangerous to use the gas that is used for divers. Yes ask your oxygen provider, they are very helpful about such things.

When I have a hospital appointment it is an all day event. We have to leave as early as possible in the morning and rarely get back before 5 pm or 6 pm. Consequently, I am rarely able to cope with going. However, I do have the necessary oxygen equipment to last me for 12 hours on a flow of 2 lpm. Just ask your oxygen supplier for assistance - you should not be feeling restricted.

Keep Smiling or in my case Keep Twinkling.
