I was sent to A&E with pains in chest/breathlessness/low Oximeter reading on evenings, it feels like pleurisy (I’m also in the middle/end of a Bronch flare)
Hospital did an X-ray and it showed pulmonary hyperinflation, but they didn’t give me anything to help.
So obviously, I still can’t breath properly and it still hurts, is there anything my GP could prescribe me? (My Salamol inhaler doesn’t do anything for this type of breathlessness)
Thank you in advance 🙏🏼☺️

Hello Candi. I'm sorry to hear this. 😟 I have always had hyperinflation. I had a right lung transplant but my native lung still causes this issue. However it has never been accompanied by pain just a sense of being full and of course breathlessness. Did they say you don't have pluerisy? Any infection going on? I don't know that your doctor can give you any medication besides pain relief unless they can pin point the reason for the pain or if there is fluid build up then perhaps it might have to be drained. If you are still struggling I suggest you speak to your GP and better lung consultant as soon as possible. Best wishes to you.
Hi Caspiana and so very sorry for the late response! Thank you so much for the reply, you’ve clearly experienced everything there is in regards to lung problems!
The hospital didn’t actually say ‘I don’t have pleurisy’ BUT my bloods showed no infection!?!
All I do know is that my X ray showed pulmonary hyperinflation (and apparently did on my last X-ray 5 yrs ago too)
So I’m not sure if A) they are always hyperinflated or B) I only have X-rays when I’m poorly and whatever I have causes the hyperinflation!
Hi Gingerboy1960 and thank you so much for your reply, I’m keeping well in touch with my GP and am pushing for my pneumonia/Hib vaccine….I’m sure all this is too do with the fact that I’m due these again! 😊
