Scared about lung nodules

Hi,

I recently had a cardiac calcium score test and that was fine but they incidentally found three nodules. The largest one was 7.8 mm and. I was never a smoker but I'm terrified about what this means. Ive never had any lung issues but had covid a little over a month ago. I've yet to speak with my doctor about the results. I am a very anxious person as it is and now I have this added worry about the nodules.

I think they may have to keep monitoring it and worst case scenario, biopsy? Anyone with similar experiences to share and perhaps give me a small bit of comfort would be greatly appreciated. ♥️

I am sure lots of people on this forum all have their own stories. Like you when I was told that they had found nodules in my lungs I was very concerned. I got regular CT scans to monitor any change. Fortunately there has been little difference. Still get regular CT scans but the consultant is not concerned about them. I think its natural to panic and think the worst x

Hi. My husband was also informed that he had lung nodules about 4 years ago. He was admitted to hospital for query sepsis but thankfully was just an infection. Like teddyd said, he also gets regular CT scans to see if theres been any change, which up til now there hasnt been, currently waiting on results. Its very hard not to think the worse and it is worrying but hopefully once you speak to your doctor you will have a better understanding 🌹

I too have nodules but they have remained unchanged for a while now.My understanding is that they just require regular monitoring e.g. ct scan.

Thank you all for your help. My cardiologist didn't call me and explain my results after a week so I sent a message about being terrified. I received a message from a nurse practitioner letting me know that my calcification is minimal and to contact my primary about my lung nodule. So no information there. My primary messaged me back and said that the nodule is still fairly small and to try not to worry. And contact my pulmonologist for the right course of action which would most likely be another ct scan at 3 or 6 months.

I'm a bit calmer now but I sure wish someone could have contacted me sooner. I guess since there is not much urgency, I can relax a little.

I completed a 3 month CT scan that showed the nodule as relatively stable so I repeat the scan in 6 more months. I will have to be monitored for 2 years on this, which I'm just going to have to accept. In the meantime, I have to refocus on losing weight.

Hi I found your post very interesting. I had a CT scan in June after been admitted to hospital from A&E . CT scan confirmed diverticulitis and the result showed something on the top of the scan in my lungs. A month later I had another CT scan on my lungs which found some nodules. Was told that they were not cancerous and hadn't grown. Like you I was very worried . Would have been more worried if they had grown as it was only a month between the scans. I have contacted the GP in July to ask if they need to be monitored and she wrote to the consultant and in still waiting for a reply. Have chased it and was told that consultants reply was vague and she would write to him again. I have severe asthma and had covid in March after shielding. I will contact the GP again.

Keep an eye on it and make sure you get regular scans.

I too had a positive calcium score on a heart CT but they called, good results, your score was zero, but incidentally we found 2 nodules in your left lung. Follow up with your pcp in a year. I was like what??? I saw my pcp and he said no.. you’re going to see pulmonary for this. It was actually 9 months later by the time I managed an appt. He said he wasn’t worried. The chest ct for comparison showed multiple scattered nodules on both lungs with the largest being 6-8 mm. They needed to rule out a mycobacterial infection? I suppose that can cause these modules and needed to be ruled out. It has now been ruled out but we’ve moved and now I’m waiting for a new pulmonary dr appt. I’m supposed to have a broncoscopy asap. I too am scared. Never a smoker.
