How long were you watching the stallions BB, before you took this fantastic photo? I so envy you but glad you take the time to share them with us. You must know your photos are exceptional! Xx
Thankyou so very much ..
They are pretty quick to be up and away like this when they are being driven home as their owners ride to chase them parts of the forest are closed down on days like this π its a bit like the wild west
stunning Bb. I sometimes think you cant beat a picture that you post and then you do, over & over thank you
Peege thats lovley of you to say many thanks π

Thatβs a great photo of a great scene. Thanks for sharing β€οΈ
Many thanks Mooka β€οΈ
Now doesn't that capture the scene, marvellous beasts x
They are certainly marvellous creatures got to be careful round these ere parts when the drift is on π
lovely to see the stallions and interesting to hear of the customs xx
They have to drift them home to contain the amount of ponies being born on the forest ...
Plus they are men so need to be tucked in for winter ππ
They do take some females and babies home also π₯°
The owners ride and group them up and set the ponies running towards home if a lot of them havent started the walk already ponies are very intuitive and know where they live and when its time to go home even though they are wild we have 4 but leave ours out as they are local to us π₯°
thank you for the information. The girls are hardy then ?!! Xx
Aww, you've done it again BB9! You can see the power in the wild ponies and respect their freedom. You live in a truly lovely part of this world.
Thankyou ever so much π
What a wonderful photo. They look as if they're dancing. xxx
Yes a bit of a tango going on π
I thought of you on Sunday.
We are staying in your neck of the woods and on Sunday we drove through Beaulieu - at least, we tried to! There was the most beautiful blonde coloured pony standing in the road stopping the traffic on our side. The cars on the opposite side were creeping past him but he threatened to step over on their side and then he stopped. A lady, who looked as though she might have experience of horses, tried to gently coax the pony to move off the road as it was simply standing there watching the world go by!
There was no success in moving said pony, but eventually the stream of traffic on the other side eased up and, one by one, the cars in front of us crept forward and around the pony.
And this was when I thought of you!
Out came my phone with camera selected. 'This,' I thought, 'is going to be a pic of Blackbird's standard. I can't get it wrong - the pony is standing stock still and looks set to stay there for the duration.'
We move to the front of the line of traffic.
Click!
Checked photo - pony had chosen that moment to go back on the footpath and I had a lovely photo of our wing mirror!
I'll leave the pony/horse photos to you from now on - you clearly have the gift. β€οΈxx Moy
Hi Moy
Sounds like you were on my doorstep probably a 5 minute drive from the high st where i guess you were stuck traffic mammoth on sunday due to the autojumble ..
Hopefully your enjoying your stay weathers not been so good unfortunately.
Enjoy your time if she was bay colour and matching mane and tail might be one of ours they regulars to the area and dont move far away..
Have a lovely day where are you staying π
Classic winners pic πΈ π
Yes, we obviously were near to you! Were staying in St Leonards for the week. We went to Exbury Gardens on Sunday and had a lovely day there. On Monday we met up with a friend and spent the day chatting and eating, which was really great. Yesterday we tried out the swimming pool in Ferndown, which we enjoyed, then after coming back to sort out our wet towels etc we went to Wimborne. We had a wander around the Minster and a cream tea in the tea shop opposite. It rained a bit but it wasn't cold. I don't mind rain on its own or cold on its own - as long as they don't both come together! After that we went to Christchurch and had a walk along the waterfront (slight drizzle, but not too bad) then had a beautiful meal in The Boathouse (recommended by our friend) overlooking the water and all the boats.
It's raining again today but is supposed to clear up by lunch time so we're heading off for another swim this morning and then we'll see what the weather's doing before we decide what to do. Tomorrow we're aiming to do the Motor Museum at Beaulieu as the weather is supposed to be good again.
It's been a great week and once again, my peak flow has increased since being in this part of the world. The air is so much cleaner than it is near our home.
xx Moy
Oh my you have been busy busy...
The sun will shine this afternoon and tomorrow all day ..
Its been quite a damp morning with showers ..
I live in the Motor museum grounds up at the back end we have a few entrances to it have the lovliest rest of the week fingers crossed the weather will be kind ..I have never known such a wet September but yes its warm and very soggy damp doggos dont care about the weather including Stan π₯°
Enjoy and breath easy try and get to Burley village its lovley there π
We had a change of plan. When we got back from our morning swim, the weather was already brightening up so we went to Beaulieu and had a great afternoon there. The only downside was that the web site said they were open until 6.00pm when, in fact, it is now 5.00 pm, so we were surprised when everything started to close and were the last ones out through the doors! xx Moy
Aww thats a shame sorry to hear that ...
But you have all of tomorrow to do something totally different from what you were going to do ..
I know somone that hires out their private swimming pool if your this way again and want to use it for hire i will always forwards details π
It would be nice to know about the swimming pool. We are likely to come this way again as we like the area a lot. The Leisure Centre is fine, but some days busier than others. Yesterday we had a lot of space but the day before we had one lane roped off and four ladies swimming together our side, chatting on the way. It meant that, between them taking up a good half of the pool and then a couple of others also doing lengths our side, it was hard to find the space to have a good swim. It didn't really matter then as it was our first time back in the water for a few years but I was glad to be able to have a good swim up the pool yesterday when it wasn't so busy.
It's cloudy today, so think we might go to Sammy Miller's this afternoon. We've just finished our Zoom Harmonica session (through BLF) which we enjoyed and having a coffee now before going out.
xx Moy
Sounds like your having a wonderful time ...
Love Sammys the alpacas are so funny ...
If you message an email address i can forward the number and information on to you with pictures of the pool π₯°
