jackdup in reply to

What is the little container beside the onion rings, is that a dip of some kind?

in reply to jackdup

I've got about twenty small pots of different sauces, If I like a sauce in a taverna I ask for a small pot bring it home and break it down and make my own and keeping in little pot's is better when you are on your own not plastered and wasted

jackdup profile image
jackdup in reply to

👍👍

in reply to jackdup

It was a honey and mustard sauce 😂

Looks good enough to eat 🤣 bon appetite Dave

in reply to Suzie42

Oh it is portabello mushroom sliced and pan fried then added to the cream mmmmm

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7

I love pasta but unfortunately not mushrooms

in reply to helenlw7

It's a shame but you could replace it with chicken

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7

Or just a nice tomato sauce

in reply to helenlw7

Not tomato sauce because you have a cream sauce chicken or bacon chunks

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7

Oh yes, chicken it is then.

in reply to helenlw7

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 chicken is so universal 😁

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7 in reply to

It is. When my daughter was small she was a very fussy eater - we had chicken every day - beef chicken, lamb chicken and pork chicken. As long as she thought it was chicken she ate it!

in reply to helenlw7

😂😂😂😂😂 hey it didn't matter it worked fish finger flavoured chicken 😂😁

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7 in reply to

It did!

in reply to helenlw7

For every problem chicken comes to the rescue 😂😂😂

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7 in reply to

Indeed. We still eat a lot of chicken in various disguises!

in reply to helenlw7

😂😂😂 what caused the problem with meat did you ever find out

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7 in reply to

She has a rare genetic disorder which affects the bones of her jaw and cheeks, among other things. We only found this out because a speech therapist who had an interest in her disorder, arranged for her to have an x-ray with contrast on a Saturday when the x-ray department was closed. This showed deformity’s in her jaw, enlarged tonsils and the flap that covers your windpipe didn’t close properly when she ate. All these made eating difficult for her and she liked the easy to chewy food, like chicken. Many operations later, she now eats a wide range of foods.

in reply to helenlw7

That was good that you found out so quickly most of the time they just say oh it's just fussy eating and close the case brilliant that someone saw past that

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7 in reply to

It is and I don’t know where we’d be now if it wasn’t for the interested speech therapist.

in reply to helenlw7

She was definitely on the ball 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7 in reply to

She was, and it was wonderful to feel as if someone was listening to me. I’d known for a long time that something was wrong with her eating. We were always seeing different doctors related to her genetic disorder, and I mentioned the eating issues to all of them.

in reply to helenlw7

Well I'm really happy you have it all under control 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Haha this us what I say to my 4 yr old it's just chicken... 😂🤣 but if theres a mark on there or herb in site omg the drama yet when he was younger loved curries, Caribbean, roasts the lot. Menace.

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7 in reply to mylungshateme

From my experience of three fussy eaters is that they grow out of it - although strangely none of them like tomatoes

mylungshateme profile image
mylungshateme in reply to helenlw7

This is funny my daughter is now an adult she was seriously fussy and still doesn't eat tomatoes! When little refused anything red. Kids! 😆

helenlw7 profile image
helenlw7 in reply to mylungshateme

One of my grandchildren refused to eat anything green - even green ice cream, not just fruit and veg!

in reply to helenlw7

I wanna know if either of you have issues with traffic lights red green just need someone with issues with eating orange then we have a full set 😂😂😂😂😂

I love mushrooms, often have mushrooms on toast as a supper. I have problems with parmesan cheese, I love the taste of it, but hate the smell. In restaurants, when they want to grate it on top of the hot meal, I have to refuse, wish they would add it and stir it in, just before they serve the meal up.

in reply to SORRELHIPPO

The good thing here is you can get pre grated parmesan or use grated cheese of your choice stilton works well with pasta

I had been looking at cheaper meals for the winter, and suddenly remembered a chicken stew/soup I used to do. I now have to leave most of the vegetables out, but checked my cupboards and discovered I had onion flakes, garlic granules, ginger but have had to ask my supermarket delivery for turmeric (I wonder when I ran out of that). Reminds me of my husband, when he did the shopping. I had asked for a jar of mixed spices for sausage stews, he came home, very pleased with himself, with a small jar of mixed spice, yup, but, was the one for cakes. Gave in and did what he liked the most, which was adding a tin of baked beans. Never did tell him, about 5 years later I found it lurking at the back of the cupboard.

in reply to SORRELHIPPO

I love cupboard rambling you find all sorts of things that you forgot existed. I've decided to Cook sausage liver and onion casserole on Saturday

in reply to madonbrew

One thing that is strange how many people don't like mushroom when they are so versatile. I love portabello mushroom whole roasted in the oven with a huge piece of garlic butter on the cup part then just a little grated cheese on top mmmm

Tripe! It's like eating parts of a Lego set. Tripe and semolina, which my mother called snotty globules, are two foods I never eat. I'd rather eat cardboard.

in reply to Greenthorn

Totally agree with you and microwave meals the same more goodness in the box than the food

O2Trees profile image

Come on! Lego is hard and sharp while tripe is soft. You may not like it but its hardly lego 🤣

I would be willing to try most things. Just a few I won’t due to danger. Raw foods. Snail etc. However I’ve never been picky. My Mom cooked venison, elk, pheasant, beef heart and tongues. Gizzards. Us kids loved it all. We never questioned such things as my father would not put up with any misbehaving.

in reply to Maricopa

I only drew the line at tripe 😂😂😂

I never liked mushrooms as a kid, but love em now. This was very handy for my dad, because me and my mate Pauline would hunt the spacious grounds of our school for mushrooms and take them home to our dads. Most of our class mate thought we would poison them, but we knew better. My mum would never touch them. She was very suspicious of anything which didn't come from the greengrocer's. 😂😂😂😋😋😋xxxx

in reply to Alberta56

🤣🤣🤣 get yourself a couple of portabello mushroom destalk and peel them put a chunk of garlic butter in the cup of each pop in the oven for ten minutes then turn oven off sprinkle some grated cheese in the cups and leave in oven until melted mmmm you won't be disappointed

Hi Davey boy 1963, Yum yum, been managing with makeshift meals as Kitchen was being decorated plus the small bedroom , should be back to normal soon. Haven't got any ready meals in but avoid them as they are often laden with salt. Enjoy your meals and a beer to wash it down I hope. 😊
