With the caveat that I’m not medically qualified. Hopefully some of the members with asthma will be along in due course, but all is not lost. Assuming you’ve already been tried on LABA inhalers, not just the various inhaled steroid ones, there are some add on treatments available for uncontrolled asthma. The two that immediately spring to mind are montelukast and theophylline. Oral steroids are also a possibility, but not favoured for longer term use as I understand it. What did the Brompton suggest as next steps?
What did the doctors suggest? The RB is a brilliant hospital and I would ask them rather than people on a forum who don’t know your medical history.
My asthma was uncontrolled with just inhalers too. I use ciclesonide, Fluticasone furoate, Tiotropium bromide and Ventolin. Now I also take oral steroids, montelukast and azithromycin. This is an antibioticI started taking it 250g thee times a week, but after doing some research and found that 500g three times a week was a benefit to asthma sufferers. My breathing is much better now.
Hi colby,it's a lot to do with technique and regularity always using a spacer for inhaler and trying to get a routine going for getting it under control,it took me a year
I hope some of these helpful replies will help you to tame your asthma .Best wishes.
