Hi, I used to get it really badly and then it would cause chest infections that in turn would lead to severe asthma attacks. My consultant prescribed avamys steroid nasal spray which has helped me heaps! No hospital admission since!

I had this problem several years back and my doctor suggested i try hay fever tablets that contain Loratadine . Just cheap ones from savers and they work for me . I take them from about May to September . Might be worth having a look at .

My ENT doctor told me to use neilmed sinus rinse. It’s not the most pleasant thing to do but like everything else you get used to it. Buy it off Amazon or eBay and make your own solution as per the NHS website. Also sterimar is helpful. Good luck I hope you find something that helps.

Hi Clarice I had severe post nasal drip about 30 years ago. I couldn't stop coughing and coughed until I vomited. I saw an ENT consultant and he found that I had a deviated septum (born with it) and I had surgery to straighten it and remove a lump of bone from one nostril. This improved the drip by about 90%. I am not sure whether there is still a surgical option for post nasal drip. Nowadays I have asthma and bronchiectasis but all pretty much under control. Best of luck! Pat

Ask your GP to prescribe Carbocisteine, at the 500mg dose, and take two caps twice daily, it is brilliant, and keep on the meds, especially when there is high pollen count, etc, etc, alongside antibiotics for 14 days. You should also be given emergency antibiotic treatment to keep at home, in case ...... everyone is absolutely right who has responded to you, you cannot wait, get the GP to call you at home, and they will arrange the above for sure. And don't taje any nonsense from reception admin who may tell you a telephone appt is not available today - they always have emergency appointments, and yours is definitely such!

Good luck, be compliant with meds, drink plenty fluids, especially when taking Carbocisteine, and try Olbas oil to inhale from a tissue, that is also excellent, especially for wheezing! :) have a good day!

Mooka is right. Sinus rinse is very effective used along with nasal spray. I recommend the rinse. And you get used to it. But you must use it exactly as instructed, so as not to swallow any. xx 🙂👋
