Lying in wait

Look what’s lurking in my wisteria, ready to ambush me when I walk underneath the arch😳😂 Usually a paw comes down and biffs me on the head - blooming cat😠😂This is my “Wildcat “ who first turned up in my garden about 4 years ago in a very sorry state. She is semi-feral but has gradually learned to trust me now. She is still very wary when I have anyone come to the house, though and scoots off to hide in the garden if it’s nice, or in her igloo under the kitchen table, which is conveniently next to a radiator, if it isn’t! My other two cats look upon her as a something of a wild child😹

She is very pretty, thanks Sassy! I think the luck works both ways, though, as she’s taught me a lot, too😸xx

A lovely photo. You are giving us a glimpse of a gorgeous specimen here. I love cats so appreciate the photo. Im glad she has a kind, loving home with you.

Thanks Roadrunner, she is a pretty little thing for sure.. She is also polydactyl, having an extra toe on each front paw, so she looks like she’s wearing boxing gloves with her extra large feet - all the better to biff me with😹

What a fine looking cat and a lovely photo. I wish one like her would turn up in my garden. xxx

I can arrange to post her on to you if you like😹 She’s a nightmare hunter! Not her fault, she spent the first part of her life living rough so had to learn to fend for herself. The trouble is she now thinks she needs to teach me - apparently I need lots of practice 😂

Be careful what you offer. I wonder what the Hermes man would think. 😂🤩😄I'm not so keen on the hunting bit. Our birds have enough to cope with as it is, with an aggressive crow and jackdaws, and a couple of weeks ago a visit from a sparrowhawk, which left woodpigeon feathers in a big patch on the lawn. Our Sooty was a useless hunter, apart from leaving goldfinch wings outside the back door TWICE. The picture shows her waiting outside the back door looking pathetic and hungry. xxx

The Hermes man wouldn’t be too impressed as she can be ferocious- as I found out when I had to take her to the vet once 🙀 I have been spoilt by my original three black cats as they rarely hunted and in fact, the remaining two rarely go out, much preferring to lounge on my bed! Your Sooty looks a very sweet little cat😸

Soot was a nice little cat. She needed humans but was frightened of them, which made her almost a one woman cat when she got used to me. 😚😊😸😸

Thanks Bernadette😊 as I said to sassy , I count myself as lucky too, as I’ve learned a lot from her. I hope you and Jack had a good day today xx

That brown and white tabby reminds me of Babys mate Percy who is brown and white!

I reckon she and Percy would get on well. There’s a ginger ex-Tom living next door and she likes to follow him around - at a polite distance of course😸 I hope Baby is well, the girls send their love 😻😻 😻

I don't think I will ever forget that photo. I cant work out if its spooky or cute. I'll join the words = "spookycute". I have wisteria trailing over a cheap DIY metal arch. Yours is so splendid, something from the Palace gardens, looks like its been there 200 years haha. And so study looking! Its the cat's castle! More please!

I'm in the process of changing my feeble metal arch to a wooden construction for my wisteria, which has gone wild this year and flowered for the first time.

Lol, sometimes she stares at me in such a way that I hesitate to go under the arch. Her feral side certainly comes out at times! Spookycute sums her up very well😂 As for the wisteria, it was planted by the previous owner - I’ve lived here 15 years so it’s approx 20 years old. The wooden arch has rotted at the base and is now being held up by the wisteria! It’s lovely when in flower but a complete thug the rest of the time, trying to take over my tiny garden!. If it’s not the cat trying to get me , it’s the blooming wisteria sending out long whippy shoots to try and strangle me instead - I’m getting a complex😂 I’m sure yours is lovely and hopefully better behaved!

😀I must confess they’re lovely but both can be jolly hard work sometimes. I am just grateful that at least the wisteria doesn’t bring in any half-dead rodents so I can practice my hunting skills , something Madam Wildcat seems to think I need to do🙀!

My daughter has three cats who are always bringing her 'presents '. 🤢 Perry only has one eye, Brian only three legs and Ralph, the baby, is just naughty. 😂

That’s an awful lot of paws to wipe when it’s wet - although I appreciate Brian is a bit short in that department😃

😊it’s been a joy to watch her go from a hissing, spitting, frightened little scrap who wouldn’t go anywhere near me, into a very fluffy, healthy cat who goes in and out with aplomb ( she has her own personal cat flap of course😹) and will happily sit on my lap - when she’s in the mood that is😂 It’s been quite a journey but I’ve learned a lot along the way too.
